If Robinson lost to Turpin, he could certainly lose to Hagler.

    Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

I don't care enough/way too lazy, to try and change your mind, but if you wanna go more in depth to change mine, I'd love to hear it mate.

Nah - I'm not that bothered either. The main point was, using Hagler/Leonard as a yardstick for how well Hagler would do against [enter any historically great middleweight, here] is close to being the poorest measure one could employ.

Eh I tend to disagree, I don't think the way Leonard and Robinson fought at MW are worlds apart, and the Leonard showed the way to beat Hagler.
I see no reason why Robinson couldn't employ the same strategy as Leonard.

Hagler in the 40 's would have meant the The Murder's Row of MW would have been
    nine instead of eight.

I'm less concerned about the strategy employed by Leonard (which also included a bunch of pre-fight tactics) and more interested in how much Hagler had slowed down by '87.

I also think you overstate Leonard's win, when you refer to Leonard as having shown "the way to beat Hagler".

He'd have gotten a shot at the title. Tough comp but if anyone can win the championship it'd be MMH

Meh, some people think Hagler won, I don't.
There's no other references post him changing his style, so that's what I go by.

Sure Hagler had slowed down by the time they fought, but Robinson is a more complete fighter, with more power than Leonard, he could steal the rounds against prime Hagler.

If Robinson and Hagler fought in the 40s, then Hagler would be fighting a welterweight Sugar Ray.

You mean by facing him in the final fight of a tough 14-year career and coming off two brutal wars?

That was end-of-the-road Hagler, though, and many in fact do believe he beat Leonard.

Robinson is a better fighter than Leonard.

Hagler, prime Hagler could beat anyone at 160 back then of course fighting opponents multiple times he's bound to drop a couple . Robinson could get him and maybe another. Not a lot of info on Moore at 160, but Charles and Hagler would be a gem. I think he busts up LaMotta and Zale though a fight with Cerdan would be interesting.

The reality is that Mafia was part of the picture in the boxing. It was infested with mob controlled fighters. Just the Managers Guild alone speaks to how deep it went.
