Antuofermo couldn't beat Maurice Hope in Rome,he aint beating Monzon ,not even if the fight is in his back yard!

Vito Antuofermo in 1979 was fighting his best and was the undisputed middleweight champion.

A legit undisputed Middleweight Champion who successfully defended his title against FREAKING MARVIN HAGLER.

I don't know why there's this desire to run him down.

Howard Cosell, who called the fight for ABC and who usually insulted Antuofermo, actually had him winning by an easy decision.

Isn't that the fight that Cosell had Corro winning, and then he switched to Antuofermo?

Although I don't rank Vito and Minter close to Monzon and Hagler at all, I agree. Antuofermo and Minter were both good. Very tough guys. Vito very strong, Minter a good boxer. In reality, Hagler's draw with Antuofermo, though he won it, was one of the toughest of his whole career.

The boxing pubs in the U.S. and press had Vito winning against Minter, too.

That's why I said depends on your point of view.

Monzon failed to beat quite a few unknowns in his back yard.

Are you unaware that Monzon first beat Griffith in 1971 when Griffith was the number one contender? That's a full 3 years earlier than when Antuofermo faced him!
Griffith was nearly 40, having his last fight when Minter beat him, does that make Minter as good as Monzon?
Antuofermo beat older ,past prime versions of Griffith ,Briscoe ,and Moyer. That's just an un deniable FACT!
Hagler never beat anyone as good as Monzon so what does that signify?
You're not rational on this subject!

You have to understand the scoring system in Argentina no overwhelming winner usually resulted in a draw.He failed to beat them ,did they manage to beat him?

Any argument about the rematch between Antuofermo and Minter?
I ask because I was sitting 2 rows back from the press section and I think Minter boxed his ears off before being stopped!

That system could work for or against you though. I doubt there are any scorecards available. If he was not an overwhelming winner against Carlos Alberto Salinas or Juan Aguilar then I'd say Antuofermo has a chance.

And Monzon beat older, past prime versions of Grififth and Moyer, too. Griffith and Moyer peaked in the 1960s.

AND EVERYONE beat Briscoe. He was a top 10 contender for a long time, but he lost to everyone FOR A LONG time, too. Always a bridesmaid, as they say.

No. I don't. Minter's best win by far.

Unlike you, I'm not here to bash them.

You seem to want to make these perennial contenders like Briscoe into supermen and then throw the WORLD champions who beat guys like Briscoe under the bus.

In don't know why there's this desire to pretend he would be an even money shot to beat Carlos Monzon because. IT JUST AINT TRUE!

Antuofermo beat a 35 years old past his best Briscoe and a 36 years old Griffith .Just learn to deal with that! Minter's best wins were probably over Kevin Finnegan.
