He absolutely was not and there's no basis for that statement.

I'm not gonna go around in circles. I already said he hadn't accomplished anything, which concedes that he hadn't fought any legit competition yet. He was about a year away from that, and when he did step it up he was dusting those guys off easily, too.

Resumes don't fight. It's clear that Roy was a very special fighter from the beginning. To be honest, he didn't really improve all that much over the course of his career. He just proved himself more.

What skills/abilities did he improve? And by skills/abilities I mean just that. Not a listing of the fighters he faced. I've got that part down.

Ring IQ, sharpness, cardio, ring general ship, timing, footwork, shot selection, head movement.

Probably everything aside from speed and power tbh.

The Gatti win for the lightweight title moved Floyd up a notch.

Mayweather's dominance of Gatti solidified his position as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

Roy became No.1 by beating Toney when he was 24, he was finished by 2003-2004 when Floyd was 26-27, Floyd took over as the main man when he beat Gatti when he was 28, simply timing and luck, if Roy didn`t get the oportunity to fight Toney at the age of 24 and had met him when he was around 27 he wouldn`t have been No.1 so soon, you make it sound as if Roy and Floyd turned pro at the same time, Floyd was in the 1996 olympics two years after Roy beat Toney, they didn`t peak at the same time.

LOL @ "the best JMWs in the world wanted no part of Roy".

Floyd beat up a world champ at 20 and in his 18th pro fight. Who was Roy beating at 20 years old?

In his 18th pro fight he dominated Jorge Castro. 4 fights later he won the title against as good a fighter as Floyd ever stepped in the ring with, and he did so easily despite fighting with a broken power hand.

Let's get off this age and number of fights ****. They aren't valid arguments in the modern era.

Hopkins wasn`t as good as Corrales when he fought Roy.
