Joppy was a poor champion. He lost every time he stepped up to world class opposition. He's mainly remembered for his series with Green..and beating ancient Roberto Duran.
Trinidad wasn't a middleweight, he beat Joppy and Mayorga...then got whitwashed by Wright and retired.
Hopkins' wins against this calibre of middleweight do nothing to suggest he would have beaten Hearns.

 

Roldan would have brutalized Joppy.

 

If Trinidad was a blown up 147 then Benitez was a blown up 140

 

I really think the Shuler version of Hearns could beat Hopkins, though it would be more than likely over 12 rounds. BHop won't outpoint Tommy so he would have to be aggressive but in doing so would leave himself open for Tommy's right cross and left hook to the body. I could see BHop stopping Hearns if Tommy allowed himself to be drawn into a fight - sadly this happened a lot and he nearly paid the price against Roldan.

If Hearns can keep his discipline he comes through some rocky stages and wins a clear UD over 12 rounds. With Tommy's power you could never rule out a stoppage but it would be unlikely.

 

Benitez never made 140 past the age of 18 and 1 month. What age did Trinidad last make 147?

 

Benitez was a credible JMW. Look at his fights there.

 

There is no Shuler version. That fight was one minute long and Hearns would've gotten sloppy if someone were pressing him round after round.

 

That is exactly how I see it also.

 

Benitez turned pro at like 15 and retired at like 28. So 18 for him is like 25 for a lot of guys

 

He also beat the **** out of former middle titlist Hacine Cherifi.

 

Not in physical maturity, not at all. If someone turns pro at 9 and retires at 22 is 11 for him like 18?

History is overrun with boxers who made their careers at higher weights than they were at 18. As a matter of fact who didn't.

 

Considering thar Benitez was first rate at 140, I think we know that his body was not like a normal teenager's.

 

Calling him a blown up 140 pounder is still incorrect - blatantly.

 

I think he more of a small 147 naturally, but was a little blown up for 154.

 

Ok all I'm saying is the same thing applies to Trinidad
