    Briscoe was 35.

    NB The resident Fool ignores the Argentinian system of scoring,just as he ignores the stats of Monzon's challengers,their weights and heights,though I've posted them several times, including on this thread
    He just repeats the same lying mantra.
    Meanwhile ignoring the inconvenient fact that;
    Hagler drew with an ex light middle for the middleweight title .
    Defended against an ex light weight who took him close on the cards.
    Defended against a light middle.
    Lost to an ex welter who had been retired for 3 years.
    Blatant hypocrisy and deliberate dishonesty.

    Minter was awesome, but I'm not even sure he's as a good as Nino.

    Carlos Monzon boxes Vito Antuofermo at a distance for 5 rounds, using his long left jab to keep Vito a bay, Monzon fires counters as Antuofermo tries to move in as he did against Hugo Corro. Then Carlos tears open Vito's eyebrow with his pinpoint right eye, Carlos ends it in round 6 when Vito starts to get tagged by every punch thrown by Monzon, the referee calls a halt with Antuofermo unable to defend himself.

    He wasn't. Nino would have won convincingly on points.

    That sounds very plausible Richard! First of all, there was no was, except in some's closeted, alternative reality, that Vito would have any chance at all in beating Monzon. Like I said in a previous post, he only became champion because Hugo Corro didn't feel like fighting after round 10 of their '79 bout. Then, Alan Minter, generally conceded to be a lesser fighter than Monzon (yes!), outboxed Vito, then virtually shut the Italian out in winning non cuts in their rematch.
    It seems we're on the verge of seeing the "Primo Carneraization" of Vito Antuofermo by a few desperate, hallucinatory posters here.

    Benvenuti and Minter would have been a good fight George,

    Unless Alan lost the head. Then it's war ! Minter was notorious for his short fuse and love for a punch up. Benvenuti was very similar. The head said box but the heart said plant your feet and scrap.
