Oliver McCall vs the following prime fighters

You said you can't imagine why he would say otherwise. Well, others in his position did say otherwise. The man himself stated repeatedly it wasn't a fix. You either believe him or you don't.

 

Yes I did say that. What I did not say is that no one else has ever made such a claim.

There are motives behind what people claim. What was Johnson's, I wonder?

In any event, I'd bet on there being more genuine fixes never coming to light, than those that are exposed; chiefly, because more boxers would prefer to deny than flaunt their involvement in such a conspiracy.

A fellow who got bullied around by Max Baer isn´t beating McCall. I´d give the Bear Brothers and Sharkey the best chance to hang in with McCall.
Next time match them with Carlos De León.

 

This fellow also beat Sharkey and Louis, along with a lot of top fighters. He'd school McCall.

 

He could win or lose vs any of them. Galento to me is McCall's easiest match

 

McCall could lose all of these.

McCall was an excellent athlete and very durable, but he had a very bad habit of falling for traps, so I don’t see him beating Schmeling or Sharkey, who had much better timing and handspeed than an old Larry Holmes.

Against Galento It’s hard to predict since McCall has never fought a tricky style like Galento’s while Galento throughout his long career fought pretty much every style so I’ll say 50-50.

I’d have to favor Max over McCall, since Max’s handspeed and power would keep McCall honest most of the fight and McCall didn’t put his punches together well enough for me to see him taking Baer out.

Against Carnera I see Carnera winning an ugly decision. McCall would be wide open for Carnera’s uppercut, but McCall did have a sneaky right hand when he fought taller guys like Carnera, so that would make the fight interesting.

However, what seals the deal for me is when Bruno pretty much neutralized McCall in the clinch. If Bruno was able to figure out that McCall was useless in the clinch Carnera, who had twice the experience Bruno had would definitely figure it out and take full advantage.

Against Buddy Baer I see this as a 50-50 fight. Both over relied on their power, so somebody would get knocked out, but no telling who it might be, since both were very durable.

 

They were a collection of skilled fighters.
