What about his fight with Reid?

Ottke constantly clinched, played up any slight infraction and led with his head on a number of occasions. The ref always wanted to penalise Reid no matter the circumstances. I believe Reid would of won that fight with a neutral ref and judges

I’ve watched a lot of fights over the years, but none like that.

The only thing that comes close was a handicap match from the WWF when I was a kid.

Alot of the time Ottke was turning his head or pulling Reid's head down. So a lot of those illegal blows were not even intentional. On top of that Ottke was playing up legal blows as though they were fouls. Ottke, like I stated before, also engaged in a lot of illegal antics and the ref turned a blind eye to them

It's been a while since I watched Reid vs Lacy so I really can't comment on it.

If you think Jones didn't do enough there, but is 'without doubt' the best super middle, it's stupid not to have him as your no.1...especially so at super middle, more so than 160 since 168 has relatively few real great fighters.
So *if* Jones was definitely the best...he was the best. This 'only the best h2h' just doesn't make sense sometimes.

From what I remember of that fight Reid was vastly outmatched, so he clinched a lot. When they were not clinching, he was constantly getting hit with bombs. Lacy was seen as the next big thing at that time, shame how things turned out for him.

I never replied to you on the other SMW thread during lockdown last month. So instead of bumping another SMW thread, I thought that we could discuss your top 30 list here, if you or anyone else is interested. I didn’t see the point in commenting on 2 separate threads about the same thing.

I think your list below is very interesting.

It’s surprising how differently we all see things.

There’s some very controversial rankings here:

    1. Roy Jones Jr.
    2. Sven Ottke
    3. Steve Collins
    4. Joe Calzaghe
    5. Chris Eubanks
    6. Chong Pal-Park
    7. Graziano Rocchigiani
    8. Nigel Benn
    9. Frankie Liles
    10. Markus Beyer
    11. Lindel Holmes
    12. Mikkel Kessler
    13. Thulani Malinga
    14. Andre Ward
    15. Byron Mitchel
    16. James Toney
    17. Charles Brewer
    18. Carl Froch
    19. Eric Lucas
    20. Lucian Bute
    21. Rddichie Woodhall
    22. Michael Nunn
    23. Christophe Tiozzo
    24. Robin Reid
    25. Arthur Abraham
    26. Denis Inkin
    27. Fulcencio Obelmeijas
    28. Gilberto Sanchez-Ramirez
    29. Iran Barkley
    30. Callum Smith

I know Toney didn’t do a lot, but he’s way too low on my opinion. Because if Roy is based that high on a H2H basis, just in terms of ability and not his resume, Toney has to be rated highly too. He’d have to be in my top 5.

I think Froch is too low too.

    Collins is way too high.

    Joe should be above Ottke.

Mr Perfect, that name brings back memories. I had basically dropped WWF when the Undertaker came along. Not really familiar with Lex Luger or Diesel

I think my favourite rivaly was between the Ultimate Warrior and Ravishing Rick Rude

The Undertaker's WWF debut was at the Survivor Series, November, 1990.

    I'll never forget it.

He was the Million Dollar Man's mystery partner.

Like I said its been a while since I watched that fight, but from what I remember Reid clinched alot. So maybe that was why Lacy resorted to such tactics. Outside of the clinch Lacy just overwhelmed him
    You think Lacy was lazy?
I admit he did have the same flaw as Tyson where he didn't do much in the clinches. In his defense it must be tiring to keep trying to drag one of your arms free all the time.

I though Lacy vs Vanderpool was a great fight. Vanderpool dominating early with his slick boxing (minus good defense),but Lacy made himpay a price each round. One of Lacy's best performances
