Toney stood up to Peters power
Eubank Snr stood up to Thomson’s both faded and a long way from home.
    (the MW division)

Any other more proven chins from the division?
I like Lammota and Hagler of course but they aren’t proven at the caliber of the above to me more so Hagler then Jake.

Can't disagree with that. Eubank was out-weighed by ripped Thompson by maybe 30lb though on the night, wasn't using PEDs or training his neck, and had left eye completely shut which meant he couldn't see the big right hands coming to brace himself (those same right hands knocked out 200+lb Rothmann et al when landed once).

Exactly 10yrs prior, Eubank was fighting at junior-middle.

Eubank was pretty much unknockoutable. The Greg George, Benn and Collins falls were clearly balance issues (up before count of one), Calzaghe caught him cold and he was up before the count of one smiling and clear-eyed, and the Watson one was exhaustion and equilibrium when he fell to one knee from a shot behind the ear after being battered all night (and was up before the count of one...)

An average of a knockdown every 10 fights, but the only clean one being in his 50th fight when he took the Calzaghe fight on a few days notice, hadn't had southpaw sparring and didn't see the punch coming.

In his final fight the doctor stopped the fight between rounds due to his eye, with Eubank on his feet protesting.

Eubank is one of the true Brit greats, no augments please, and as happens with some fighters ( particularly if they are unpopular when fighting ) it takes the fullness of time to fully appreciate their ability , and I believe Eubank falls squarely in this category, for me he is my top 5 of ATG of Brits.

Mickey Walker took on full-fledged heavyweight contenders whilst conceding 20 or 30lbs, beat several, drew with Jack Sharkey, and was only KO'd by one of them, Max Schmeling, a fight in which he took a hellacious beating and it ended up being stopped by his manager.

Would this forum PLEASE PLEASE get off Eubank's dick?

He HARDLY had a better chin than Hagler and Lamotta. Benn rocked him to his boots, and Watson was on the verge of stopping him in the rematch until Eubank landed that lucky hailmary.

My GOD this place is like the Eubank twilight zone.

Now he has a better chin than Marvin Hagler.... PLEAASEE stop.

    Toney? Yeah. Eubank? **** no.

Toney is virtually impossible to stop below HW. I wouldn't pick anyone to. Eubank isn't even close. Greb, Hagler, LaMotta, Briscoe, Burley etc; are all clearly better. There's a bunch more I could name too.

McClellan's brain was bleeding and he was still getting rocked less by Benn's bombs than Eubank was.

Toney is certainly among the most durable fighters ever, although a lot of that has to do with his excellent defense as well.

I like Mickey Walker mention - this guy always brawled, was usually much smaller, had good defense but could be tagged and yet he was very tought to stop. 6 stoppages in over 160 fights, 4 of them out of prime.

Helps that he was the size of a LHW/CW on the night, and Benn was a small SMW.

Interesting how Reggie Johnson could put Toney on ***** Street at Middleweight but the guys at Heavyweight couldn't.

Well Hagler was never knockeddown in 67 fights and LaMotta was dropped once in 106 fights, so by that logic they all have a better chin than Eubank.

That's core strength and circumstance. The shot that 185lb Calzaghe put Eubank over with put him over with force, it didn't affect his central nervous system.

PEDs and neck training with weights at HW.
