Exactly. Bodyshots? Perhaps. Tommy can't stop him any other way.

Don’t get snippy Bob, just because he moved up on weight class doesn’t mean it shouldn’t count towards his chins status we talk about Jake tanking shots from light heavyweights but we can’t talk about Chris doing the same to a good puncher from a huge CW? When he is a natural SMW.

I rate Hearns chin highly, I don’t know who would win but I would count on Tommy’s skills saving the day rather then his punch it isn’t really winning the fight for him I’m tossing up as Eubanks chin, decent power and skills could defiantly win this for him but he cannot he made the favourite that much is clear the hitman is leaguers ahead in greatness and resume.

Just don’t get rude with me Bob I’m just having a discussion I’m a big Eubank fan but I’m not blind to the Hitmans status, H2H ability and Banks own shortcomings as a fighter.

Man your being touchy in the feelings dept. I wasnt rude or snippy. Frustrated is more like it when people are putting Banks on the same level as Tommy. Hes not just there. I gave Banks credit for his chin and rt hand but that certainly doesnt put him on Tommy's level not to mention his limited competition. Just saying what's already there.

    And the most important part.....

Tommy would test himself against the best, actively sought the the big fights.
Eubanks ran from the top boys and made a career out of conning the British public.
Just like his son is doing.

Not if Barry Hearn was promoting it in England.

Youre right....it was mainly against Hearns,Iran showed that chin.Eubanks fought nowhere near the same competition level but Chris was never knocked out or close to it.

Hearns wasnt in his prime when he stepped in with barkley in june 1988...if you read magazines of the time...there had been talk ever since the Shuler fight that tommy was declining.. like a fully functioning electrical plug whose coil is only 1 more fuse malfunction from short circuiting....tommys once respectable chin was one huge punch away from conclusively ending any doubt his prime was over.

It had been dented severely in recent times by hagler, andries, roldan

He was inflicting a murderous beating on Barkley..its reasonable to say the chris of the 1st benn and watson fights could come back from that towards the late rounds...

But this is prime for prime...so a 1985/86 mw tommy..imo outclasses and outpoints chris

You say Hearns was in his prime defeating kinchen. He looked awful. He looked terrible in the srl2 and olajide fights too...the legs were dead...the chin vulnerable and the old flamboyant attacks gone.it was only in the Hill fight he put up one last hurrah.

You call Eubanks far less skilled than Eubanks this is with the greatest respectv inaccurate.Barkley fought in far superior company as a pro...and as the 1983 World Amateur Championships bronze medalist he had far greater success on the New York amateur circuit than Eubanks fighting and meeting the same opponents had.

The Benn-Barkley fight was stopped prematurely... comparing it and using the Eubanks vs Benn result as a barometer of how eubanks-barkley would go is like saying since Earnie shavers crushed ken norton...and norton gave life and death to Ali...So Shavers beats Ali by 4th round ko.

Just as Eubank who fought and beat no one on of true world championship level is seeing his reputation become sky high on forums.....barkley is more and more denigrated by the day.

Before fighting benn...barkley fought back to back with hearns,duran,nunn....some would argue he won all 3...prior to that hed lost on pts to kalambay...those 4 are a level or 2 better than anyone eubanks fought.

Plus before the Benn fight ...Barkley had retina surgery was rusty but came back too quick after such a serious surgery...a week before the fight his father died...sure benn attacked him like a savage dog...but when it was stopped barkley had overcome the storm...it was stopped prematurely on a 3 knock down rule even the ref half heartedly enforced thus denying us one of the atg mw battles...
Barkley is all wrong style wise for eubanks.the 90s barkley could put intense pressure and maul him to defeat better than collins...and the more sophisticated 1980s Iran i see winning on points.

Eubanks was hardly a master boxer like the Kalambay, Iran faced. That Kalambay was very fleet of foot and had a laser like jab...eubanks had slow plodding feet.

    Good one !

Eubank has the chin and durability to be on his feet at the end of 12 rounds. Hearns would be a lot busier than Chris, though. This factor added to his longer reach and better overall skillset would earn him a clear verdict on the cards.
