The Rock was a good, lil fighter. Lotsa pluck and such that old wags go on and on about (you know, the stuff America is missing these days)...

But let's not discuss him against man-sized men.

Joe Mesi never lost. Would you pick him to beat Muhammad Ali?

After all it would certainly suit your narrative in which people pick black fighters over white fighters in an attempt to belittle the white fighters.

Didn't he live in Buffalo? That's pretty sweet if he's all-good now. I thought things would be pretty poor for him now with the brain injury (although I don't know more than those two words and it stopped him from fighting).

I mean, shiiiit Johnny Carr not only never lost, but he has a 100% KO Percentage. Surely he's a lock to beat Liston based on that?

    36-0 vs low rated fighters.

Liston lost to a guy named Marty Marshall who retired 24-14

According to this forum Marciano literally loses 90% of the time to fighters with melanin in their skin.

I think Marciano would lose by SD in a 15 round fight, and probably get floored along the way. It would be a GREAT fight, but Liston's jab and uppercut would make the difference. No doubt Liston would be rocked a few times in the fight, staggered. I think Rocky would persist, but run into that left hand time and again and get badly swoll up by the 12th. I can't see Liston stopping him, though, and I believe one judge would give it to Rocky just because of his aggressive perseverance

However, in rematches I see him beating Liston on a SD (I'm sure Rocky would have learned from the first fight and figured out a way to either lessen the impact, roll with, nad/or evade the jab), then making him quit or stopping him in 8 during the rubber match.

I think it's safe to say neither fight is going the distance. I also think you're wrong to assume that Marciano would've "figured out a way to either lessen the impact, roll with, nad/or evade the jab" he was pretty much one-dimensional and never really showed an ability to adjust (though in his defense he never had to). As a matter of fact, Liston was among the best at making mid-fight tactical changes to his gameplan to suit him.
And again, Liston was not a quitter. He quit ONCE, against the greatest of all time, while in his mid 30s, likely older, had seen all of 3 rounds in three years, and had a known injury going into the bout. Why does nobody talk about his valiant performances against Valdez, Dejohn, Williams, and Marshall where he refused to give in to adversity.

How many fights did Liston have at that point? Who was Marciano fighting at that stage in his career?

What happened to that guy? Why didn't he cash out?
