    At 135, 1920-esque rules. 20 foot ring.

Does the Old Master take Homicide Hank?

Expert pressure fighters will beat anyone apart from even better inside fighters for my money.

    Hank by ko

I got Armstrong by UD. Gans went through some brutal meetings with Nelson and proved his Metal.

Actually Gans looks more modern, Armstrong is more old school!

I'd pick the super durable Armstrong to our work Gans. Gans does't do well vs swarming attackers with skills.

I can't see it being that simple. It never is when you put two ATGs in with one another.

I'm picking Armstrong myself, but Gans has plenty of intricacies to trouble Hank. His jab, for one. Armstrong dipped down and relied on his head-movement to get past jabs, but would that work as well vs the well-schooled, hammer-like jab Gans had? No, not IMO - It'd take longer to pin Gans down. Plus, Gans was a master infighter himself. His clinch work is legendary, and I can't see Armstrong just bullying that level of skill around.

However, a younger Gans did have some trouble with Elbows McFadden, and an older Gans had trouble with Nelson twice. Actually, he was KOed three times in total by them and neither were Armstrong level. However prime Gans did school and smash McFadden and would've beaten Nelson properly too IMO.

I think Armstrong UD is the safe bet.

I could see it going either way.

For me Armstrong was clearly the better overall, but I think Gans might have the right style to beat him.

It's not the reason I pick Armstrong, it's just I feel someone with the style of Armstrong has a huge advantage over someone his own size.

I love Gans, for my money he's better than Ross, has an amazing jab, superb reflexes and fight changing power. But he was also adept at fighting inside and going to war.

Very much from the George Dixon school of boxing.

And he beat Nelson in his prime for what it's worth.

I hope anyone with sense disregards the McGovern fight also.

But ultimately Gans won't be able to keep Armstrong off him so he will have to trade inside or fight off the ropes. And neither of those are things that will see him succeed against Armstrong imo.

Whoops... I've always thought that was legit.
Yeah, but by DQ. I don't know much more than the result, so I couldn't comment on how he handled Nelson.

Gans had dynamite in his hands and could make Hank pay dearly. Joe could also come out very aggressively and bomb away. His ledger is too deep for me to disregard his chances here.

I have Armstrong by very close UD, but it would be an all-time great fight. There would be no stoppages, as both were as durable as possible.

Gans had right style to beat Hank, but Armstrong looks a bit stronger inside to me and I just think that he would overwhelm Gans at some point.

50-50 fight to me, but I pick Henry.

It was very very far from legit my man.

Gans battered Nelson, dropped him multiple times and Nelson fouled out. Although there might be fight reports out there with a different spin, I've no exactly gone in search of more.

I haven't seen good long version of this fight, but in these very short highlights Gans indeed battered Nelson.

I normally go for the more modern fighter but Gans is better and way more complete a boxer than the overrated Armstrong. Armstrong the most overrated boxer on this forum. Avoided avoided the best Welters while losing his title to Zivic in his prime FFS
