LaPorte throws six punches per round, no more. No one with that type of workrate stands any chance whatsoever against Fenech. Luckily for LaPorte, he also owns history's best chin, so no way Fenech stops him either. Lopsided decision for Fenech.
Laporte usually got motivated in big fights. He won about 4 rounds against Azumah Nelson and staggered him in their 1990 fight. If hed fought Fenech in rhat same time frame at 130 lbs I think the outcome would have been similar. Around 116=112 for Fenech. He sometimes did sleepwalk through fights. But look at the JC Chavez fight. He was highly competive.
You must not have watched the JC Chavez and Azumah Nelson fights. Both were competitive and not lopsided, especially the Chavez fight. Yes, he was inconsistent but not always as inactive as you claim.
I will say that I have great awe of LaPorte's chin...and that, if he did throw more punches....many more punches, I'd pick him to beat Fenech....whether by ko or decision, I think he would beat Fenech.
In fairness there were times he showed more ambition than I let on but he could be very frustratingly inactive for huge stretches. And my God, what a chin.
