Beterbiev.

The guy is a machine.

 

Purely as a KO artist? Probably Wilder. There’s a huge disparity in ability though

 

As a knockout artist, Beterbiev. His shots are a lot more compact and controlled, and he can hurt fighters with either hand in almost any scenario. Wilder's got a single harder shot P4P, but if he can't land it he's pretty toothless, and his ability to finish off an opponent is, well, untested against the top level.

Putting it in simple terms Wilder is more likely to turn a fight around with one shot, while Beterbiev is more likely to break an opponent down with clubbing concussive punches that they can't get away from. Different ways of achieving the same goal, though Beterbiev's style is a lot harder to look good against.

Beterbiev is a much harder and physically stronger man p4p. So he can generate power from all angles, at any range from either hand. Wilder relies on a long range full leverage right hand.

So to me Beterbiev is a harder and better puncher. Even though he probably doesn't have the single hardest shot p4p.

 

I agree with this. Wilder regularly needed come from behind (or should be behind) KO's to bail him out, due to the lack of boxing ability. And in most cases he delivered just that.
Beterbiev usually breaks opponents down.

They both fought in the heavyweight division (up to 200 pounds) in the amateurs and finished their amateur careers as heavyweights.

When Wilder turned pro, he added a handful of pounds and fought heavyweights. He's knocked out 41 of them.

When Beterbiev turned pro, he decided to become a 'weight bully', dried out to make 175, then bulks back up to close to 200 ... and he knocks out light heavyweights.

Artur has knocked out a grand total of 15 of light heavyweights. (Not heavyweights, which Artur and Wilder BOTH were as amateurs. Light heavyweights).

Think Wilder couldn't have knocked out freaking Callum Johnson or Tavoris Cloud?

Put Wilder and Beterbiev in the ring together. It's been a while since I watched the Hearns-Duran fight. We'd get a replay of that.

Opponents faced lead to the myth of Wilder. Yes he brutalizes his opponents however any of us could be a Knock Out machine against the correct opponents, set me up in the ring against thirty or so Girl Scouts, one at a time, ages ten to twelve and I will scream “BOMB SQUAD” while knocking them out.

A true knock out artist needs more than the right hand. Power in both hands, proper angles with which to get the Knock out rather than waiting for your opponent to step in front of your right, these things all matter. Wilder has very few if any of them, outside the war crime that is his right.

Beterbiev is a K.O. artist. Wilder is the hardest puncher.

Oh please. He's knocked out 41 heavyweights. Beterbiev has knocked out ZERO heavyweights, and Beterbiev IS a heavyweight.

This isn't some fantasy pound-for-pound comparison. Wilder and Beterbiev ended their amateur careers in the exact same division. They both weighed 200 pounds.

One guy decided to turn pro and fight guys MUCH BIGGER THAN HIM - Wilder hasn't outweighed an opponent in eight years. And he's knocked out 41 of them and he made 10 successful WBC heavyweight title defenses over five years.

And the other guy decided to turn pro and dry out so he could bulk up before the opening bell and beat up physically smaller people.

Of course he punches harder than they do. He's a goddamn heavyweight.

Beterbiev is *****.

He's entertaining in the ring. But he's a *****. He should be fighting other heavyweights, but he'd lose.

 

Wilder knocked out 41 gatekeepers, journeymen and has beens. Even when Stiverne - his best win - wasn't totally shot to ****, Wilder could not knock him out in the first fight. It doesn't matter that the opponents Wilder stopped outweighed him. They were tomato cans, period. Beterbiev's win over Callum Johnson shits all over Wilder's career and I didn't even mention his win against Gvozdyk.

Wilder was a skinny beanpole in the amateurs. He gained some muscle after that so he fights among the heavies now. Beterbiev is the same size currently he was when he fought at the 2012 Olympics. No, he doesn't fight smaller fighters. Gvozdyk was about the same size, the Ukrainian is even taller than Artur. LHW is a stronger division than cruiserweight currently. If he can make the LHW limit he is a light heavyweight period. He should be respected for fighting in a stronger division, but of course casual haters like yourself bash him for that. And if he fought at cruiser you would say he is hiding in a weak division. No matter how hard you try to push your agenda, the fact is that Wilder couldn't carry Beterbiev's jockstrap.
