Hatton could never beat Mayweather, not even in his dreams. Mayweather lived the life of a true fighter. Hatton was a slob. I've heard this ref blaming for years now, poor Ricky still not over it. He should be grateful he shared a ring with an all time great, and to be fair to Ricky he gave it a good go.

    Levels.

I think the key point here is that only a few months later the very same Joe Cortez allowed Bernard Hopkins to spoil and wrestle and roughhouse Joe Calzaghe all night long in their fight in Vegas. So severe lack of consistency both in favour of home fighters is a very very valid point. There is no doubt he broke Hatton and Floyd early on a multitude of occasions, and twice warned Hatton for holding when it was clearly Mayweather who was grabbing Hattons arms.

That must be a horrible thing to hold on to after all these years. Instead of regretting the Mayweather match he should regret drinking his career away. But that would require some actual introspection.

Yes, he wanted the same referee that gladly assisted him in his fight against Tszyu. He wants to comfortably throw combinations to the balls, combinations to the back of the head, hold whenever he wishes, shove and elbow all night.

His excuses sound so stupid really. Floyd ****ed him up on the inside. All the dirty crap Hatton pulled on the inside rough housing tactics Floyd showed he was quite adept at them to.

Just another moaning boxer who can`t except the fact he would never ever have more than an extremely slim chance of beating Mayweather

Im a big Floyd Mayweather fan and not a fan of Hatton at all. Don't dislike him but was never a fan of what I often felt was bending the rules with holding and hitting.
I favoured Floyd to win inside the distance and would favour Floyd whoever the ref was.

On this occasion I did find the refereeing of Cortez to be odd, in that when Hopkins and Calzaghe fought, there was imo quite a bit of holding before being broken up, yet in Floyd's fight with Hatton, they were being split up in what I always felt was far quicker time.

I didn't think it seemed consistent when looking at the two fights that were not too far apart in when they took place.
That's not saying that I think he did anything wrong or that there was some sort of conspiracy, but not consistent in the way he was referring in my limited knowledge and me not having a clue

This. That ref was basically Joshua’s bodyguard. Anytime Parker landed something significant the ref would step in and check on Joshua.

Another example is Kenny Bayless, who is a ref I usually liked, but whenever he worked a Floyd fight the amount of favoritism he would show Floyd was off the charts.
