Doesn't matter that he was beaten down by a lesser fighter. He returned victorious. Not to mention, getting a beat down is getting a beat down. The effects are there regardless of who is came from. Wilder got more a beat down from Fury than Aj did from Ruiz.

Always picked AJ to beat Wilder. All DW has is a hail mary. Anyone knows anything about sports knows a hail mary isn't a game plan to go in with. It's a life boat.

Going by form in most recent fights, Anthony Joshua beats Wilder hands down!

I really don’t think wilders clever about anything he does, when you have opposition that bad and also have huge ko power it’s very easy to consistently get 1 punch knockouts, pretty much every fight he’s constantly throwing wild flailing punches, and yes he has the balls to go to war with bums. I Can’t really say the fight is 50/50 because wilder has nothing more than a punchers chance.
However I do respect the fact that wilder always comes into fights in great shape

So why doesn't Joshua get many 1 punch knockouts? He's got power and he's bigger than everyone he fights? Your oversimplifying it and quite frankly noteven willing to have a real conversation if your gonna say Wilder doesn't set up shots with any intelligence whatsoever. Hes been fighting more than capable opposition for the past few years now and he's put every single one of them on their backs with a well timed single shot including Fury. Your not even being reasonable

Joshua doesn’t get as many one punch knockouts because he doesn’t hit as hard as wilder and his level of opponents are much higher than wilders, and sure wilder has ring intelligence, but it’s a lot easier to think in the ring if your opponent isn’t putting up much of a fight

Wilder will start to fully doubt his ability after Fury deals with him again

    AJ still has confidence.

Wilder won't want to risk fighting AJ and getting an embarrassing KO loss. It's like Khan Brook. Fight won't ever happen.

First to land and hurt their opponent wins. I wouldn't bet on either man.

I picked Joshua before and I pick him still. People siding with Wilder drastically underestimate Joshua's skill level and ability to take a shot. Would he get hurt if Wilder caught him with his right? Absolutely. But he got caught by Wlad and survived, and I can't see Wilder's flailing attempts to close the show on a hurt Joshua being good enough to actually get the job done, though it would be an extremely rough and nailbiting round to ride out. People bringing up Ruiz here need to understand the massive stylistic and physical differences between the two fighters and why the same scenario won't unfold for Wilder.

On the flip side I can't see Wilder not getting caught by something big from Joshua, and if that's the case he crumbles soon after. Wilder's response to getting hurt is to retreat throwing keep off me jabs until he's got enough space to launch his right hand again. So long as Joshua understands this he'll be able to back Wilder into a corner then launch a series of compact combination punches on his grill and finish the show.

Realistically I can see two scenarios playing out. One: Joshua takes his eye off the ball and gets caught by Wilder's right, drops, rides out the round and comes back to KO him (i.e. the Wlad fight but sloppier and more dramatic). Two: Joshua completely dominates Wilder from start to finish and clinically finishes him off before the middle rounds. I don't see any scenario where Wilder legitimately wins.

If Wilder’s confidence is still there (his delusional excuses suggest it will be) then honestly I’m still picking him. I don’t think AJ has it in him to avoid that right hand and I sure as Hell don’t think he can take it.

This is by a fine margin by the way. I do not make this pick with great confidence

Joshua, and I've always favored him.
At the end of the day, I expect Wilder to be only around the 5th or 6th of this post-Klitschko generation in hindsight. He just got protected.

AJ TKO inside 5. People love to bring up Wilders power but fail to see he needs a lot of space and range to land it. Joshua isn’t another one of his D level opponents who is gonna stand there and wait of be hit. He’s gonna keep a tight guard, he’s gonna move and pressure Wilder and put him on the back foot so he can’t throw it as often, he’s gonna be throwing brutal combos at Wilder. Wilder has always had really bad defence and poor footwork so he’s not gonna be able to evade Joshua. Joshua walks him down hurts him and stops him is the most likely scenario.
