Lennox Lewis vs Jack Sharkey

Carnera was bigger than Louis, at or near a fairly lean 270 in his prime.
He was a strongman with massive bone structure & highly musclular before modern weight training & even before steroids were *invented*.
Louis had to build himself from the 220's to what he became....

But Louis was way more skilled & athletic.
Sharkey was very good at his best.
But I do not think he was as good-& was smaller-than say a Mercer WHEN he was on.
Sharkey is very unlikely to be able to beat Louis.

 

I had it right the first time. Lewis all day against Sharkey. I have Lewis as a top all time heavyweight. I respect Sharkey for being good in his era but after watching both I see no way that Sharkey wins.

Please don't modify my post and say you "fixed it for me". I competed for a long time in this sport and know my ****. I may not agree with you but respect your opinion and wouldn't do that to you.

 

Sharkey was good and tricky, Lewis rarely went for kill early. I see this as late stoppage for Lewis or a reasonably close, but clear decision.

 

One thing Sharkey does not have is a punchers chance.

 

Holyfield was listed at 6' 2 1/2", but I do not know that he was under 6' 2". Where did you get that number?
Eh he could fight a bit heavier than 210 & not compromise those powers, like against Holmes, but admittedly not much.
But for bigger fighters-& Tyson-he may have been better off with the added strength & resistance & yeah PEDs (not that this was ethical).

I wish it could happen. You wouldn't last 20 seconds with Sharkey in the ring.

 

Sharkey made professional fighters(contenders) look like fools but a keyboard warrior would beat him, because he was born after Sharkey died.

Nobody on this forum would beat Sharkey that lost to Louis, let alone a prime version.
