They won't get premier league rights for a while. Maybe small packages like Amazon have got but they won't get anything near to Sky for a long time.

Also they need to up their content. Live sports isnt really that rewatchable in the same way films and tv are.

Sly have the most subscribers but many people won't even subscribe to Sly, many of these people who do subscribe to Sly are unwilling to subscribe to Sly Sports and BT Sports, with very few willing to take a 3rd subscription for Premier Sports.

This is why Boxnation and Eleven Sports failed - a new entrant would need to successfully bid and take away the crown jewels from Sly Sports and BT Sports. In addition, Eleven Sports found that the UK market for sports streaming failed because people want to watch it on a TV Platform.

Hopefully DAZN die a quick death in the UK.

Nobody will get what sky has but they don't need that to take that many games. They would need as a minimum the amount of games BT has.

You can get around that though. DAZN in Italy are on the Sky platform.

Interesting if Sky will be so obliging in the UK if DAZN take their boxing content and make significant strides into EPL and CL Football.

For those that have it, what does DAZN offer that youtube and illegal streaming sites don't (in terms of boxing)?

I think they have a library of old fights but i suspect theyre all on youtube, anyway?

Also, how would the app work on my TV? I dont have a SKY dish so all my stuff comes through the internet (prime, netflix, youtube). Phone viewing on the TV is so unstable now but i suspect i could get a chromecast. Is there a specific app available for your TV?

Regarding illegal streaming, even last night for the FITE TV PPV Harrison fight people were on twitter enquiring where to find, and this was for an event that cost 4 pounds !

Basically it was 4 quid for 2.5 hours of a show with five fights, Talk about Cheap Charlies lol

There are principles mate - pay per view is highly unpopular in the UK outside the cohort of PPV mugths sucked in. A very small percentage of people in the UK buy PPV events with at least 3-4 times more watching illegally these days and growing as technology improves.

Pudding Whyte has made about £50m and never been near a World Title Fight while Bellew and Haye conned the same cohort of Mugths TWICE for a classic poking. The more frequent the scams, the quicker people wake up.

The PPV mugths are the ones being conned mate, are gradually waking up and any event is now seen as fair game for watching using any method possible.

The top price up to £30 these days is not the issue - it is simply the fact that people increasingly know they are being conned and won't pay on principle.

To be honest Scott Harrison coming back at 42 years of age is not worth watching on BBC 2 never mind PPV at any price along with Dullian Shyte v Pedvetkin in Eh Day's garden.

I totally agree, Harrison's PPV is the first fight ive bought in a couple of years, just did it as ive always been a fan of Harrison, i watch mostly https://www.onefc.com/ fighting championship which is free on Youtube, i dont have Sky or BT sport subscriptions, binned the lot.

The point i was more angling at, is that an event like Harrison's at 4 quid aint drawing in huge PPV buys numbers, so it cant afford to take the hit of illegal streams, especially with no crowd in since Covid.

I will certainly be paying for DAZN UK so that I can see Tommy Coyle fight at 4am in a swimming pool in Kansas.

The event should simply be cancelled if not viable mate - do you think even 100 people bought this?

Its really difficult to say how it did, it had publicity in some papers here and the Scottish bbc news, the fact its Harrison would have drawn in most of them he was the only legit name on the card other than Johnson Tellez https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/527892

There are two million registered users of FITE TV , how many of those watch on a regular basis i am not sure and how many would have taken the plunge and bought the PPV for $4.99 not really sure what they were getting is the big question ?

This is the first of ten planned live events they are doing on FITE TV the next one is 1st of August

    https://www.fite.tv/watch/let-battle-commence-beattie-arauz/2p7rq/

Heard of any of these guys Jurgen ? ;)

The problem is that Fite started as a pro wrestling streaming service, so at a conservative estimate you’d have to assume that at least 50% of those registered users have little to no interest in boxing, let alone low level boxing.

Think they need big characters and names such as Big Joan Fury v Mick Theo type fights on the undercard to generate significant public interest.

I had no idea that Scott Harrison was making a comeback until I read this thread.
