Usyk beat the best in his division WHILE THEY WERE PRIME while Canelo managed to finangle wins over old men while fighting with his custom judges. He cleaned out his division, comprehensively.

Usyk could be argued to be the best cruiserweight in history. Nobody would mistake Canelo for the best MW or JMW in history, except for maybe 3 extra special posters, and we know who they are.

Canelo has the better resume hands down. If usyk dominates hw I will revise my opinion.

 

Being the best Cruiserweight is like being the tallest Hobbit.

 

Usyk was already a fairly big name in Ukraine and could easily go back there now and do decent numbers.

The Gassiev fight was actually scheduled to be fought in Saudi Arabia which I imagine would have made more dough but after he got injured he as a Ukrainian chose to go to Russia to fight a Russian.

2 multiple time world champions
4 undefeated at the time he fought them
First undisputed cruiserweight champion in 4 belt era

Huck although past prime had a razor close fight with a prime roided Povetkin a few years earlier.
Breidis brutally stopped Charr at heavy.
Gassiev stopped Dorticos and has more to show for at heavy.
Hunter now a big player at heavy despite not being on the same level as the previous 2.
Glowacki stopped Huck and beat Cunningham (who is one of Tyson Fury’s best wins)

All in just 16 fights

All done by the way with no bs rehydration clauses or dodgy judging decisions.

I hear what you're saying. I'm not hot on Canelo being rated P4P #1.

For me, Lomachenko, Crawford and Inoue are all more talented. I think the latter will get his signature fights and leap over the Mexican in the coming years.

Usyk has a tremendous record. The problem is he had a poor 2019 and is currently having a terrible 2020 like most. He's not done enough good, recent work.
