Yeah but I meant, Toney a former middleweight won the first fight according to most observes. And then Chambers easily outboxed Peter to a UD. In my opinion Briggs was shot to pieces and fought with one arm. I rewatched the Byrd fight yesterday due to comments on this board. But this just confirmed my initial assessment that Vitali was ahead in a close fight (anywhere from 1-3 points). Vitali looked clumsy in this fight and Chris walked him down.
Vitali's best wins are probably Sanders Peter Gomez Adamek Kirk Johnson Donald Chisora Arreola Hide Solis It's a decent bunch without a signature win. How many HWs dominate that bunch and barely drop a round? Would Holyfield? You have very good technicians like Gomez, Solis and Donald. Speedsters in Hide and Fat Kirk. You have big punchers like Sanders and Peter. You have a pressure guys like Adamek and Arreola. All of them were completely dominated.
Give Lewis credit, and he reads this and knows it too, for escaping Holyfield's left hook. I don't think Vitali does.
The list is pretty poor.Come on, Gomez never achieved anything at heavweight. He was knocked out bya non name at heavyweight. I could go on but I think you know this is a poor resume by ATG statndards
Gomez wasn't "completely dominated" by Vitali. He had success and made Vitality look bad during the first 6 rounds. Solis went life and death with Leif Larson - a complete soup can. . Whats your opinion on Luis Ortiz ?
Those numbers really don't mean anything, when you look at the fights they represent. You should know better. But, it's Vitali and, where he's concerned, you desperately reach for anything you can make resemble something meaningful. No - not at all. Why would I, you manchild? Who had Briggs beaten to earn his shot? What do these names actually mean to anybody? - Rob Calloway - Dominique Alexander - Rafael Pedro Do you want to try and make a case for why the above earned Briggs a go at Vitali or should we, instead, just agree that Briggs was shot to **** and an easy payday for Vitali? Like I suggested - Briggs should not have been anywhere near a World Championship boxing ring.
Seriously? Don't you think it might be time for you to start acting like a grown-up? You are a grown man, aren't you?
Peter has become central to the benchmark of boxing success for the Klitschkos'. He has also been considerably overrated by fans of the Klitschko brothers, as a result.
Oh, is that a fact? Yet you were just blowing Pinklon Thomas as a big win for Tyson, and he was smack in the middle of a losing streak. Who had he beaten recently that was better than Briggs' opposition, to make him worthy of a title shot? So let's look at the guys Thomas beat to earn his shot at Tyson: A loss to Berbick was followed by three wins over epic fighters like Maldonado (6-6) Hosea (13-6) and Sutton (31-19). They make the guys Briggs beat look like ATG's. More importantly, it shows that you DKSAB when you say stuff like this about Briggs: Log off.
Agreed. I give credit to Vitali for being able to achieve what he did in coming out of retirement. But, other than his lay-off and age, this bout was against a limited (albeit game) opponent, who was effectively care-taking the WBC strap. It consisted of nothing to realistically suggest to an observer that Vitali could have beaten a prime Evander Holyfield.
