He was a cruserweight champion who shut out Sinal Sam and McCall. If Moorer could beat Holyfield in a close decision, it's plausible Gomez could who utilised better movement than Moorer

I think Solis had big potential after being the best amateur for 4 or so years but didn't train hard enough

Solis didnt get a chance to show anything. Arreola is just a slow tough guy with no defence.
Vitali's resume is very underwhelming imo especially when you look at the names who were around during his time.
    Tua
    Holyfield
    Ruiz
    Haye
    Dimitrenko
    Boytzov
    Chagaev
    Valuev
    Ibragimov
    Maskaev
    Rahman
    McCline
    Pulev
    Helenius
    Barrett
    Brewster
    Tyson
    Povetkin.

I don't think there much better names. Maybe Haye, Toney and Povetkin, but the later was coming up when Vitali was winding down his career

Peter was ring ranked 2nd, Sanders was ring ranked 3rd, Johnson was ring ranked 5th, Adamek ranked 4th, Areola ranked 6th

At the time you had guys like Ruiz and Byrd who really didn't want to unify.

Losing streak? Thomas only had one loss on his record, before meeting Tyson, you moron.

Thomas was ranked by Ring Magazine. He was a former World Titlist, less than 18-months removed from the WBC strap; not some overweight, wheezing, journeyman, who 12 years prior, might have been a moderate contender.

That you think you've drawn some amazing contrast between Thomas/Tyson and Briggs/Vitali's, in the latter's favor, is beyond being dense on your part - but ****ing hilarious, all the same.

DKSAB? LOL - You can take the girl out of the General Forum but you can't take the General Forum out of the girl.

Perhaps you should go back there - a place where I am sure you are revered for your rapier like wit and internet acronyms.

Take your own advice. Then go on a long vacation. You're a joke.

    Povetkin was no10 in 2007
    2008 Vitali no1 Povetkin no4
    2009 Vitali no1 Povetkin no2
    2010 Vitali no1 Povetkin no3
    2011 Vitali no1 Povetkin no3
    2012 Vitali no1 Povetkin no2
That's five years both were in the top 4, ample opportunity for the fight to have happened.
    Vitali was a cherry picker.

Not at all, Moorer actually had some sucess at heavyweight. Gomez lost against Darnell wilson (23-12-3) for christ sake. He lost to Yanki Diaz (10-1) by KO. It is silly to compare him to Moorer.

There was no justification in Briggs receiving a title shot against Vitali. What was revealing was the fact that he took hundreds of flush right hands without once going down,in a fight that was criminally refereed by a third man Ian John Lewis who has made some glaring errors in fights.

Right but did Povetkin and his management want the fight? I think he was being brought along slowly and happy to cash in on a vacant WBA belt rather than to push his status as IBF mandatory.

    It was a horrible fight.

Briggs took a shellacking, which anyone with an ounce of sense would have seen coming.

That some Vitali fans hail this as some kind of key victory and laud over the fact that Briggs had to be hospitalized afterwards, shows a lack of appreciation for the sport, at its highest level - and a lack of class, in general.

Did all those I named not want to fight Vitali? Or is it possible he didn't want to fight them?

    - Johnson came into that fight looking like a whale. Just grossly overweight. A disgrace.
    - Sanders is a good win but not great. Old, fat and semi retired. He has a fluke win over Wlad that is it. He lost his other big fight against Rahman by KO.
    - Adamek, he certainly was never even a top contender to begin with. Vitali and Adamek looked like 5 weight classes apart.
    - Arreola, he was never really a top contender. He beat McCline, that is it. He lost against Stiverne twice anc Adamek.

Come on, can't you do any better than this?

Ortiz was better than Solis. And Id take him to beat Peter and Arroela. . Those type of face first plodders were food for a crafty counter puncher like Ortiz.
