Waaaaaattccchhhhhh thhhheeeee fooootaagggeeee. This content is protected This content is protected Oh, are we looking at defeats, now? OK. Douglas lost to Bey by KO on Bey's debut fight: https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/564 Then he managed to get knocked out by Mike White, whoever he is: https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/2697 Then he managed to get KOd again by Jesse Ferguson: https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/638 ... should I go on? Pfffft. No he doesn't. Tyson spent the night before the fight partying with hoes. He'd been slipping up for a while already, not taking his boxing as seriously as he ought to. The Wlad that Sanders beat was in perfect condition. Opinion.
Look you just have no arguments. There are 2 facts.Douglas was considerably younger when he fought Holyfield,Douglas has the better resume.you have not be able to refute those 2 facts,Douglas win > Sanders win. As for resume, who did Sanders beat besides Wlad? You tell me that you come here with your ridiculous footage as it would prove anything
Except for that Douglas is palpably the worse fighter. Sure. He knocked out Du Plooy who knocked out David Bey who knocked out Buster Douglas ON HIS DEBUT fight. Fair enough, let's not watch boxing anymore. Let's just insult each other. I'm ok with that. I'm good at flaming people
Looking at it: Future cruser champ Johnny Nelson Bert Cooper in 3 rounds Levi Billops in 1 round who went 10 with Lennox Mike Williams in 1 round who went to an SD with Witherspoon and went 7 with Douglas Czyz - in 2 rounds ex cruser champ, who went 5 with Holyfield Al Cole - in 1 round - he twice went the distance with Kirk Johnson and Witherspoon Sprott - in 1 round - future British and EBU champion And ofcourse he destroyed Wlad in 2 who was going to be the great of the next decade. Absolutely shocking management for Sanders to get his title shot so late in his career. Somehow Botha who he continually beat in the amateurs got title shots years before him.
Thomas was 28 years old,had beaten Witherspoon Tillis Ratliff Weaver Drawn with Coetzee And only lost to Berbick, he was a good win for Tyson.
That really is scraping the barrel if your using the likes Levi Billops and Mike williams to big up someone's record lol.
It's the comparatively ability with his peers that's impressive though. He's a bit like the heavyweight Pacquaio without the stamina. You can imagine he was definitely avoided
I used to give Tyson a harder time for his opposition. How time breeds a perspective... ...I agree wholeheartedly with the above. That said, according to some, we should bear in mind that an overweight, asthmatic Briggs had improved over the 12 years since being gifted a win over the 49-year-old Foreman and would walk through Tyson's resume.
A prime Briggs gave Lewis some sticky moments before being hammered, but he was years past his sell by date when Vitali cynically cherry picked him and the Ukrainian still couldn't drop him.
Indeed - Briggs was game and Lewis too cavalier. I thought of Briggs as a bit of a tough scrapper; had a good dig, but few tools to execute with and nothing in defense. Not one of the top guys of the '90s for my money, let alone in 2010. And, for all the flack that the '80s guys took and still do take to a certain extent, there were some well-schooled fighters in that group.
lol@ unranked Briggs being better than top 10 ranked Thomas. The Thomas Tyson fought was the same Thomas to beat Weaver and Spoon. He was upset by Berbick in a close fight. Big deal The Briggs Vitali fought was 39 and had retired 4 years earlier to to asthma complications. He un-retired two years later , beat some club levellers , and that seemed to be enough to get him a title shot.
Yeah, I mean normally the people on both sides of this argument are as demented as each other but Briggs was an absolute disgrace as a challenger, a first-phase Wilder opponent at best. People should be ashamed, defending that ****.
And yet Briggs had just beaten better opponents than Thomas had. Some people big Thomas up as a great win for Tyson. Geriatric, asthmatic Briggs would have beaten that version of Thomas too * shrug *
