Whyte was done after the first round against Joshua, he bought time (and should have been thrown out) with his antics after the bell. This generations version of Chisora, nothing more than that.
No, just that we have no idea what that defeat has done to Wilder, he was destroyed in every department
I don't think there's a rulebook for what one ought to do after being tagged with a big left hook after the bell. You really ought to state your bias, because your comparison to Dereck Chisora is ludicrous. Dillian Whyte, despite being considerably younger, has better wins and has 8 (!) less defeats on his record.
I think Whyte is a lot better than the credit he gets from most on here. The only heavyweight I'd confidently pick to beat him is Fury.
Whyteleafe is so clumsy and open there is no way that China chin doesn’t get tagged clean by a wilder Exocet. Good night Dillian.
Really not understanding the "hate" being put towards Whyte here.... anyone would think people would get behind a guy who is going about his career the way he is, is due his shot and wants to fight the best out there. He took the AJ fight on a rather short notice with a ****ed shoulder from prior to the Minto fight that the AJ camp new about. The shoulder then went in the fight but he still made AJ look human at a time he was steam rolling everyone and wobbled him. He never done a Ruiz and spunked all the "AJ Money" on all sorts, he used what he earned from the purse and put it into his career with a training team, proper nutrition, training camps etc and is since unbeaten. Gave us a far more entertaining fight with Parker than AJ did whilst dropping him, took undefeated records off of Rivas and Browne + beaten Helenius who has since gone on to end the Kownacki hype. He's been overdue his shot at the WBC having spunked hundreds of thousands in sanctioning fees only for them to **** on him...... yet is now taking a dangerous fight to Povetkin when he could play it easy like most fighters in the same situation would. Perhaps he isn't good enough to beat AJ, Fury and Wilder but all 3 would know they've been in a fight.
Well said all of that, apart from the last bit. It's very unlikely he'd beat Fury, pretty unlikely he could beat Joshua but has a much better chance against Wilder.
name me Whytes best name that he has beaten? he hasn't even won a European belt! thats his LEVEL, European! he has a non existent jab and no right hand, when he does throw his 'world class hook' it's throw, and hope that it lands
Nice to see you back posting @Aydamn do you think Whyte will make light work of Povetkin or is he at risk of losing!?
Joseph Parker.... you the know the bloke that's a former world champion and hold's a win over Ruiz who chinned AJ.
Which fight did he have a tough scrap with Chisora...the one where he won clearly, or the second where he boxed him southpaw for shits and giggles and made him quit? Whyte could quite have easily lost the first fight and was losing the second. He is the new Chisora albeit with a better attitude and Peds.
Good post, mate, but I can’t help but feel there’s 2 sides to it. I certainly don’t hate him but I do find him irritating the way he harps on like a victim. I think as much as he’s been unlucky in getting messed about by the WBC, he’s also been very lucky with the way the second PED case was suddenly brushed under the carpet, he’s had a helping hand during fights from referees (Chisora decision, Parker headbutt, 2 Chisora points deductions whilst fouling himself) due to his affiliation with matchroom imo. Povetkin on paper sounds like he’s taking another huge unnecessary risk, but on the flip side he’s fighting a 41 year old (that’s an old man in boxing) who I felt could quite easily have had 2 defeats in 3 fights on his record prior to this fight. He’s got a great mutually beneficial relationship with Eddie Hearn where he keeps getting PPV money despite never winning a world title and being marketed as this massively improved contender but a little scratch under the surface and you have questions to them claims. I think he’s an handful due to his left hook, constant fouling (leaning down on their backs, clinching way too long and bending them over the ropes and his trademark forearm push in the face in particular) and will to win. Technically, I think he’s really poor, his balance is shocking, he almost falls over when he throws a big shot and we all used to laugh at Wilder for that. That said, I will always tune into fights and talk about them on here because he is entertaining. He comes to fight and he’ll have a proper tear up. I’m all for that.
I think the first Chisora fight could have gone either way. It was close but one of those whereby the favourite to win ends up in a far closer fight than expected so people cry robbery when he nicks it. It's a bit like that Pacquaio Marquez fight where Manny won by a whisker. I still had him winning - just nowhere near as convincingly as most thought he would. I think those 'two sides to the coin' comments above can probably apply to lots of people. Fury plays the victim and had his obvious drug test fail brushed aside by some and excused under some deeply dubious 'you can't question Tyson as a drug cheat because he's got mental health problems' line. Povetkin is old, but again, who should he be fighting? He's fought Joshua, he's fought Parker, he's been desperate to fight Wilder who's avoided him in favour of what he assumed to be easy fights. People keep talking about Povetkin's age without looking at where he's ranked. Yes he's not what he was, but I'd rather see Whyte fight him than some young, built up but actually useless nobody like Tom Schwarz.
