Manny by a very large margin. In truth there really are not that many fighters who have as many world class opponents on their resume

Skepticism? Roy was straight up caught with, what was it, FIVE TIMES the legal T:E ratio?

That man was on steroids for his entire career, hence why I tend to scoff a bit at him, his achievements, and everything else, really.

At least Manny, Floyd, JMM, and others have plausible deniability.

He has a much deeper resume. But like I said previously, when he was in his prime, Roy didn’t need to fight guys like 2-3 times like Manny did.

Arguing for Roy is far from unreasonable.

-Pacquiao went through several weight classes but he often used catchweights which puts an asterisk* on some of those divisions. Cotto is the most glaring example.

-He also got to guys when they were damaged goods/shopworn or coming off bad losses (Margarito, Oscar, Hatton, Mosley). Many of Roy's opponents were healthy and in their primes.

-Pacquiao needed multiple rematches to set the record straight (Marquez, Barrera, Bradley, etc). This made for some exciting fights but it showed his lack of versatility and a capacity to overcome a difficult skilled opponent the 1st time. The only example I can think of is beating a prime Thurman on his 1st go.

-Pacquiao lost to the best opponents he faced (Mayweather, Marquez). Roy beat his (Toney, Hopkins, Tarver, Ruiz).

-Roy is more skilled and more dangerous p4p and h2h in his prime. Pacquiao was a wild hurricane in the ring but struggled heavily with certain styles every single time (defensive cagey guys, people with great foot work, hand speed, and a great jab). Pacquiao's team wasn't even shy about their careful matchmaking (refusing to fight Crawford, constantly bringing up flat footed Danny Garcia out of all the young welterweights, sticking with "safe" Top rank opponents). Granted Roy had his fair share of lower level competition but he didn't hide behind promotional/negotiation excuses.

-a little guy moving up from a low weight class to a medium weight class is far less perilous than a medium weight guy moving up to the big weight classes.

The first Griffin fight was a DQ, and he was past prime for Tarver.

    SYH?

There’s an awful lot to factor in when ranking someone.

Manny has a deeper resume and he achieved more. He also obviously has greater longevity. So you could definitely rank him higher. But it’s not clear cut.

Roy went 15 years, where he barely lost rounds.

He made history by going from MW-HW.

He has the better singular win.

He burnt muscle at 35 after 50 fights, to drop back to LHW to reclaim the LHW titles.

Prime for prime, he looked the superior fighter in my opinion.

He looked untouchable in his 90’s prime.

Prime RJJ can't be stopped. His Top 5 wins are hard to match let alone beat. Middle and Heavyweight World Champion.

Prime Pac is a beast but Prime RJJ is better in my books.

Pacquiao ranks higher than Roy. No doubt about it. Pacquiao is now 42 , but he's still the World Champion. Roy at 42 got knocked out again and again.

The age comparison is quite prevalent when ranking fighters at the moment. Let me give it a go.

At age 34 RJJ became a Heavyweight World Champion after starting his professional career at middleweight.

At age 34 Pacquiao was still waking up from Maquez knocking him out cold.

    Is that how it works?

Who was a more credible and dangerous opponent? John Ruiz or JMM?

Ruiz was a handpicked opponnet for a trinket belt. Lennox Lewis was THE Heavyweight Champion.

What belt did Marquez have when he left Pacquiao motionless on the canvas?

Ruiz was 31 coming off an excellent series with Holyfield. Marquez was 39 with a bad knee.

Such an "excellent" win. Right after he was "shot" vs Tarver. This type of crap from fans is indefensible. Tarver had his number and took his soul forever. End of.
