You're confusing unorthodox with poor aesthetics. Hamed's skillset is immense A man who's boxed will believe he can beat certain boxers who he thinks he's better than. That's natural. He can see certain things he does better and he can see weaknesses in an opponent. Whether he has the intangibles to do it under pressure and the stamina to not run out of gas is another matter. Ofcourse he might be delusional too. But I know there's guys out there that have held their own or got the better with future world champions and never turned pro. It happens.
I don’t think Holyfield fairs well against either. The rest are all high skill guys could go either way w all of them. They all bring something to the table
Wait.. wait wait! Thats random inductive logic you´re picking here! Why don´t we pick total random opponents that much HW today to proof we can put these fellows against Tua, Ibeabuchi or AJ? Oh...wait
A man who's boxed should believe they can beat anyone ever on their day. Doesn't make it reality though. Watch Naz against Kevin Kelley and think about how much of that performance you'd consider trying to teach new comers to the sport. The things Naz gets lauded for guys like Canzoneri get laughed at for. But yeah Naz was immense. I loved him. In fact I hate MAB for years after he beat Naz.
Sharkey beat 9 fighters that are listed at 200 lbs or more against him. It's enough for me to believe that he would beat complete amateur with no experience who weighs 220 lbs.
Well, I´d say Donnie Long looks better than Carnera on film. And Carnera fought and won championships back then. With a 60-70lb weight adv. This content is protected
We aren't even talking Donnie Long here. We're talking a guy who never won an amateur tourney, then quit the sport aged 16.
Hamed got hit because he was looking to set traps and counter. He was looking to pull fighters out of their shell. He's looking to stick his chin out, slip and counter. He got hit a few times but it ultimately worked time and again. The only time it didn't was when Barrera put on a very cautious display. Good tactics but Hamed would have more success with Morales who'd actually come and fight him.
As I read it, he stopped boxing events but fought on until now. And I´m talking about a guy, who looks and very well is worse than Donnie Long won fights with a weight adv. Including never falling against the boxer we´re debating here, beating him once. Stop denying Carnera was taken to the absolute top just anything else than a size-adv. Another fellow with a 30lb weight adv., better balance and something more than a grab (who some call a jab) can take featherfist Sharkey again. You´re laughing about this thread? Well, I´ve seen Rocky going against LL, David Tua and Ibeabuchi. Since we´re on BF24, everything should be fine.
Also one more point - nonexistent power against full-time pro fighters at the highest stage is not the same as nonexistent power against amateur with no experience. Sharkey was a strong man, I'm sure he could hit enough to stop any tough man competitor.
