Who will be the biggest star in British boxing...

I imagine it'll probably still be Joshua.

 

The above post is about as predictable as Tony Dosh PPV fighting a pudding.

 

If AJ is still about probably him tbh,are there any potential superstars coming up?..genuinely don't know any but look at the talent over the pond with Garcia,Vergil Ortiz,Haney,Stevenson,Lopez,Davis, all in their early twenties and legit contender/champions already.maybe Dubois? he fits the bill but it's early days coz he's fought nobody.

 

Two thoughts; firstly, whilst Joshua is obviously very rich, there are always levels to this. I genuinely think people who earn average money assume much wealthier people have a similar mindset, and assume at some point you just pack in. Let's say Joshua could earn an additional £100m for two fights when he's already earned somewhere in the region of £500m. That's a lot of money. I remember someone on here saying he can afford a lot of things, but there are certain things outside his limit. Way to get those if he wants them? Earn more money.

Secondly, history suggests plenty of boxers do not pack in that early. In five years Joshua is still younger than Lewis, Calzage, Froch and Haye were when they had their last fight. Say he fights twice a year for the next five years; he ends up with a record of what, 33-1? 32-2? He's not had that many fights really.

 

Tyson Fury will beat the **** out of him. Then he'll be done.

Tyson Fury is the biggest star now, and will be probably the biggest star then.

 

Pat Mccormack and Peter McGrail are Elite amateurs who will be fast tracked after the Olympics.

Also Pats twin brother Luke Mccormack is very good too, I think with them being twins and given the Eddie Hearn push they will have be big names in the future. Especially if they both medal at the Olympics (very possible).

 

GB have a waaaay better amateur team than the USA! Wait and see the next crop of the GB Squad that turns pro after the Olympics.

 

He's not even the biggest star right now.

Anyway, 5 years is a long time, Joshua will be retired by then,

 

Tyson Fury and Josh Taylor are the clear two best Brit fighters right now >> they should still be around.

Josh Warrington if he keeps winning. Billy Joe Saunders & Callum Smith are only one big win away from being a star.

Prospects like Dennis Mccann, Joshua Buatsi and Dalton Smith have a lot of potential.

 

Fury or AJ over here (whoever wins, probably Fury), but 5 years is a long time in boxing so could easily be Dubois or even Callum Smith. In America probably Canelo still.

 

Best fighter and biggest star are massively different things though. Someone like Saunders (chavvy traveller, jokes about beating up women, getting crackheads to hit people for money) is never going to be a star.

People like someone they love to hate. Eubank and Naz had that to an extent as well as people who supported them. But nobody actually likes Saunders in the sense they support him. Warrington will be a big local fighter but not much more.

 

A good amateur doesn't mean they will cut it as pro though Alf as I'm sure you know.tom stalker,Frankish gavin,Audrey,price..etc.etc..the us prospects are legit pro's already and potential superstars all of them.

 

OK but say he beats Canelo Alvarez or Golovkin. His profile would be huge.

He has a lot of talent BJS when he's at his best, a very big win like that is possible.
