There's a difference between being the best fighter in a division and cleaning out a division. The only thing Fury has cleaned out is his fridge.

Liston left no stone unturned. He was both the best and had destroyed every noteworthy boxer of his era.

As it stands Fury has 2 solid wins (wilder, Wladmir) and 2 ok wins (Chisora, Cunningham). It's not a very deep resume made worse by the fact Wladmir was an inactive 40 year old who wouldn't let his hands go. Wilder is apparently a bum and a joke with no skill except raw power yet everyone praises Fury for beating him. Had Wilder beaten Fury nobody would give him credit and would have said Fury was shot.

Liston`s reach was longer than Wildder`s by one inch and his jab was more powerful than Fury`s who overcommitt`s when he jabs leaving his head to near his opponents fist and open to a counter, Liston had the power to stop Fury.

 

Wilder was far more powerful than Cunningham, but neither Wilder nor Liston had Cunninham`s cruiser reach.

 

Liston had a longer reach than Cunningham by all legitimate accounts. He's also an all time great fighter where as Cunningham was quite literally a nobody as a heavyweight

 

Yes, a cruiser`s reach is smaller than a heavies was what I was saying, Fury`s reach is 85 inches, Liston`s was 84'' and Wilder`s is 83''.

He typically only uses 40% of his power level, then when he gets hurt or dropped he turns super saiyan and goes HAM.

A hurt Tyson fury is one of the most dangerous fighters in boxing. 270 pound 6'8" in life or death mode coming after you. They are lucky he isn't a natural puncher.

Actually, Fury's style of dodging punches is quite similar to Ali's. He's also about 6 inches taller than Ali and has longer reach than Liston. Liston is going to find it hard to lay a glove on him. But Fury doesn't "kill" him.

And yes, I think a focussed Fury is all wrong for Liston. And the reasons start with the feet.

 

Fury is not Ali...only Ali was all wrong for Liston!
Fury is bigger,heavier,slower,worse chin....than Ali!
Ali was much faster and more durable also Fury isn't durable and his defense is zero!
