I cannot lie I have hated Sugar Ray for most of my life he is a real smarmy git but an all time great. He managed to beat all my guys Duran, Kabule, the magnificent Hearns, the sublime talent Benitez and they even allowed him to rob Marvelous Marvin. Remember the famous words from Marvin “They took away my title and gave it to Ray Leonard of all the people”. Don’t think Marvin or I will ever get over it. Leonard is a genuine all time great but a sneaky you know what.

 

Leonard won. Hagler was too slow to get his punches off and got beat to the punch consistently. He fought hard and kept coming, but Leonard was more consistent with his offensive onslaught.

 

Sorry I'm not a fanboy like you. I don't go into matches with biases and fanboy attachments that cause me to score fights for my favorite fighters like you do.

 

Thats where you show your ignorance Every fight I ever went to or watched I only wanted to see the better man on the night get the win regardless which it is. Yes I have friends & fighters I admire & I love to see them win BUT only if they legitimately win NOT by VEGAS decisions. I detest seeing them blatantly robbed purely by CORRUPTION!! To me any man that cheated to get a "win" is nothing more that a COWARD & a CHEAT!! Not a CHAMPION!!!!!

 

Hagler lost.
He was awfully slow when he fought Leonard, and look at the punishment he was given by Mugabi.
He was done at the top level, he knew it, that's why he retired.

 

When a pro athlete starts to think about retiring.....He’s already retired. Marvin wanted to hang them up after Hearns. He started to enjoy his fame and celebrity status. Looked off for most of his Palm Springs 10 week training camp. I have Marvin winning 115-113, but he looked tired and slow for much of the fight.

 

Hagler could have won if he didn't waste the first four rounds. He should have never tried to outbox Leonard.

 

I just scored this 117-112 Leonard, 8-3 with an even round, why people see this as some kind of robbery is ridiculous, for a start Leonard won the first 4 rounds and then a few clear ones after that, Hagler didn’t do enough and was getting hit with clean shots

 

MMH is one of my favourite fighters and I dislike SRL. He is the og deck stacker in my book. Like floyd and canelo.
Waited till Hagler finally slowed down after Mugabi and played his friend till he finally grew some balls and stacked everything in his favour.

That said, Hagler still should have knocked that weasel out.
In the end it was a Pac Jmm 2, GGG Canelo type fight where it could hsve gone either way.
Mainly because Hagler fought the first few rounds stupidly.

As much as I would love to say it was a robbery, imho it was not.

But I'm completely sure that had the fight been 15 rounds long, leonard wouldnt have finished this fight standing. I'm completely sure. (and biased too, lol, but I dont care)

 

I’m a Hagler fan but he didn’t win that fight. Just couldn’t pull the trigger.
