I can't disagree with this but I will say Parker's effort in the final round (having endured 2 brutal knockdowns, one illegal, one legal) to have Whyte on the verge of defeat proved he has ample desire to win, and also would have made a rematch quite viable. It's 2 years exactly since the fight occurred (time flies!) and we'll probably never see a rematch.
Parker is still only 28, it seems like he has been around forever. If there was a rematch Parker wins as I think Whyte is going to very quickly start falling away, PEDS, refs, it's all coming to a close in the next couple of years.
That’s pretty much how I saw it, a close controversial fight with Whyte wanting it more. Parker went for broke at the end but didn’t do enough overall in rounds.
I think watching live I had it even. Can't remember. I never felt too aggrieved with the result, mind. What we can't do is allow it to be considered a 'comfortable' win for Whyte or even a largely convincing one.
No robbery but a bad ref did affect the outcome of the fight. Funny how there isn't an outrage about that because it was a brit who benefited. Parker could have done more but for the 2nd fight in a row he was getting done by a ref on UK soil.
I agree. Financially it made perfect sense to do it again...Parker’s team say that he’s been screaming for it but Whyte just won’t entertain it and instead calls out others.
He should have gone more public. He was far too 'nice' about the situation, especially with the headbutt knockdown.. first time he was knocked down in his career if I remember correctly. I'd be livid.
Parker-Whyteleafe-Joshua-Ruiz-chisora-breazeale-povetkin-takam all these type of guys can have an endless circle jerk of second division fodder they’ll all win a few lose a few. Meanwhile the top two are having a trilogy for the ages.
It's going something like that but I think in hindsight the third fight will prove to be fairly pointless and is probably more likely to be of hindrance to Usyk as he waits for a crack at the belts. I genuinely believe that Usyk could have the beating of any of the names you've mentioned, including Fury who probably knows that he represents the trickiest of fights.
BRUTHA USKY has maybe the best Pure SKILLSET in the division outside of Luis Ortiz, and of course the main man which goes without saying. However I don’t see how a BRUTHA from behind the iron curtain makes up for the sheer size discrepancy vs fury, coupled with the slickness and ring IQ of fury. Step too far for me. Put BRUTHA USKY in there with a more limited big man like Joshua/Whyteleafe/miller straight up and down no special effects types then you can say USKY brings enough in ring intelligence to make up for the physical deficits. Against fury he is bested in all departments imo. Wilder brought the intangibles of Intergenerational ATG power and pure unorthodoxy which has the top trumps boxing fans scratching their heads in the same way Carl Froch did for his whole career. BRUTHA USKY brings intangibles, but so does Fury. None of the next level bring anything intangible apart from maybe the obese little Mexican fella with his absurd hand speed to BMI ratio
This is spot on. Whyte fought dirty and was allowed to fight dirty. Personally didn’t like it and thought he got away with too much but Parker should have been alive to that more quickly, he just went along with it and didn’t do enough to counter it. Regardless, it was a close fight. Definitely should have been a rematch...
I think the KD was incorrect and it was a close fight, wouldn’t have been a robbery if it was a draw. I still see it as Parker losing the fight more so than Whyte winning it. If Parker has had his screwed on he’d have won that fight. Whyte only won that because he wanted it more.
