Instead of Hearns/Hagler, and you think it would be even more action packed than what we got, who do you pick? I'm going for Tyson/Fraizer. I can't even imagine what the first thirty seconds would look like with these two bulls going a it. Either way, the violence would be off the scale. Your turn...
Pintor & Gomez would be more violent. Also these would be.... Dempsey-Firpo Pryor-Arguello Leonard-Duran Mancini-Kim Limon vs. ANYONE Fletcher vs. Anyone ZALE-GRAZIANO-hagler/hearns on steroids twice! Franklin vs anyone. I REALLY THINK HAGLER/HEARNS IS WAAAAAAY OVERRATED. RD 1 WAS GREAT, PRYOR-ARGUELLO round 1 WAS BETTER. H vs H. Rds 2 & 3 WERE NOTHING SPECIAL.
Marvin Johnson vs Yvon Durrele Saad Muhammad vs Victor Galíndez Bobby Chacon vs Arturo Gatti Kelvin Seabrooks vs Wayne McCullough Carmen Basilio vs Rocky Graziano Joe Frazier vs Evander Holyfield Myung-Woo Yuh vs Jung Koo Chang Akira Yaegashi vs Jorge Arce Ray Mancini vs Diego Corrales Brandon Rios vs Juan Diaz Just a few I could think of.
The War is so overrated to me. First round is as epic as they get, that's fair; the Hagler cut made it really genuinely dramatic. But people acting like it's the greatest fight of all time I just don't get. I thought Terrazas-Mijares was a better fight, and i'm not joking.
MISSED YOU BUD. Terrific poster. I just bought a great bio called "Fearless Freddie" about Mills. Light-Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Complete mayhem brutallity. Put jr-light Gatti in with the entire 4 Kings. Limon (madness) Boza (multiple knockdowns) and Navarrate ( sudden death with gloves). THAT would be exciting.
Agreed, 1st round of Hagler Hearns was great , but a close examination saw Hearns start retreating after about 90 seconds and it was a matter of time before Tommy would fall.
Rocky Marciano vs. Nino Valdes Benny Paret vs. Rubin Carter George Foreman vs. Cleveland Williams George Foreman vs. Sonny Liston Ron Lyle vs. Sonny Liston Joe Frazier vs. Ken Norton Larry Holmes vs. Ron Lyle Iran Barkley vs. John Mugabi Marvin Hagler vs. Iran Barkley Julian Jackson vs. Nigel Benn George Foreman vs. Ray Mercer Man, I could do this a lot longer.
Lyle was good, very tough fighter. And he would have rocked Holmes. But ultimately Ron would have been stopped in 8, he would have had massive problems with that jab. 1978-1981 Holmes would have made him look like a bumbling dolt, all swoll/dressed up and nowhere but Palooka-ville to go. That said, it would probably have been an entertaining fight for the first five rounds or so.
I've always thought that it would be a war cuz both were the same size, which would pose a new situation for Holmes. Lyle was a rumbler, and Holmes often got into wild fights with bigger hitters. I just don't think Larry could resist. I think both would hit the deck in an all-action brawl. But I agree, I think Holmes probably would have stopped Lyle around 10. Lyle was never stopped easily or quickly in his prime though. I have every reason to believe that Larry's in for the fight of his life.
