Dillian Whyte is definitely better than Alexander Povetkin and he would knock Michael Hunter into next week. It seems fashionable to regard Alexander Povetkin as some great boxer, despite never winning a legitimate world title. On top of that, I think Michael Hunter is overrated and he was lucky that that knockdown was not counted in the Alexander Povetkin bout.

Dillian Whyte will see to Alexander Povetkin. He seems very much disliked on this forum.

The predictable narrative for after the Alexander Povetkin win is that the Russian is shot to bits. He's definitely old and he was never that good to begin with, so Dillian Whyte shouldn't get that much credit for seeing to him. It's a good win but nothing more.

All of this is a given, but still. He has been at the number one spot for a very long time now.
    It´s just odd.

In his day, Povetkin was head a shoulders above Whyte

only reason why Whyte has a chance now is cause Povetkin is 40+

alot less overrated than Whyte that's for sure. And yeah. 41 year old fighters with long pro and amateur careers and backgrounds never become old over night. Nope that never happens.

Is the Whyte v Povetkin fight even going to be aired in America? I only see it listed as available on Sky Sports Online.

THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE. Whyte loves to paint himself as the victim but in reality he’s just a vitamin d deficient circus clown. A guy who gives ninety percent and comes into matches out of shape.

He had three chances to fight for world titles and rejected them. I personally think he’s looking for a final payday to cash out.

Alexander Povetkin's peak was never that high and his decline has probably been happening for 4 years now.

But we all know that this is just a contingency for when Dillian Whyte beats him.

Well, what you've just demonstrated is a clear strawman.

My angle is bread and butter and hardly dressed up, so **** knows what your problem is.

My opinion is that Dillian Whyte is very good, but disliked amongst Americans, who hold a clear bias against him. Furthermore, I don't think Alexander Povetkin is as good as most here make him out to be. That leads me to believe Dillian Whyte will beat him one way or another and he deserves a certain amount of credit, but not too much credit.

If you can't handle a differing opinion, then what are you doing on a sports discussion forum?

That's the thing though. Whyte IS is popular fighter. At least compared to all the guys that have got a shot before him. So what reason for him not getting his shot is there?

Because he is supposed to be a fighter but turns down three chances at a championship and whines about it. It’s not bias if his decisions have consequences.

Looking forward to the Povetkin fight. Whyte really needs to be looking to get the stoppage on the in decline veteran to underline his top contender status.

I don't know what 'stat' you're talking about. Dillian Whyte isn't the #1 contender. Whyte won the WBC 'interim' title a year ago against Oscar Rivas, even though he failed his pre-fight drug test. He has his WBC belt.

As of July 2020, the WBC #1 contender is Deontay Wilder, followed by #2 Usyk, #3 Ortiz #4 Ruiz #5 Rivas #6 Parker #7 Dubois #8 Hrgovic #9 Povetkin and #10 Hunter
