Only Liston looks good, Dempsey doesn't. Dempsey gets beat by almost all ATG's after 1950.

    Yes he is.

He beats the crap out of Holyfield.
    It's 50:50 against Bowe, Lewis
He's slight favorite but it would be a close match against Mercer and Ike.
Tyson also stands a chance, although the 90's version is more likely to lose against Liston than he is to win.

I'm a big fan. Call me a fan boy.
Hardest jab of all time. Great fighter.
    Destroys Lewis by KO.
    50:50 with Foreman or Holmes.
    Beast.
(Ummm... apart from Ali... probably always loses to Ali)

I'm 50/50 on whether Liston predates boxing itself.

When I had my open heart surgery on Jan 21 2020 to replace my aortic valve and double bypass, two arteries, I woke up to the Tech who bore a very real resemblance of Charles Sonny Liston. I said to myself, I hope that this is pure coincidence, or I am in a place that I do not want to be, because I will not be able to participate in the Classic Boxing Forum no more. I woke up but never saw that Tech again, it must have been the meds. But I do think that Sonny was one of the best champions that ever lived but too bad that we did not get to see more of him, except against Ali, then the televised fight against Leotis Martin in Dec 1969.

I will never agree that Liston could beat Holyfield. Liston was easily outboxed as everyone knows, and Holyfield COULD BOX. Lewis has a fair chance against Liston, but I think Liston would tag him and probably knock him out. We all know Lewis was succeptable to carefully-timed single blows. Now that I rethink it, I do give Tyson a good chance to outbox Liston and flurry to win a decision. But if Tyson goes toe-to-toe with Liston, Liston takes it.

Ya, I hate it when people say Liston was fast and a good boxer. Ridiculous.

Some may say in more mystic circles that he predates life itself and is the incarnation of death and despair.

It’s quite possible that was Sonny “The Eternal” Liston...
