I'm really looking forward to Cheeseman v Eggington as I believe both will come forward in this fight. Won't be boring put it that way. A decent domestic headliner to resume things with. Do for me.
Eggington is a dreadful boxer- brave kid, but he’s taken far too much damage already-I’m ok with the fight, but I’m certainly not excited about it. It’s a solid card in the circumstances, so no real complaints from me.
At least Hearn is putting a show on, given the current hysterically fearful and overblown attitude of the media and government to the covid hoax. Clearly the revenue that would be there in normal circumstances wont be there until things go back to "normal"
Belotti always has a punchers chance. But i think his attacking aggressive style will play into Gills hands and i actually fancy Gill to take him out, looking very good in process. Can get 2/1 on Gill by stoppage. I am going to put a wee double bet on, Gill and Tennyson to win by stoppages.
Maybe, I mean, Gill is a 2/9 favourite, he should be looking the part. I expect Gill to start fast, look sharp and be elusive early rounds. If Gill gets in to an early rhythm and his confidence starts to flow he will be a very hard man to beat, Bellotti might now have enough to turn it around. But.. I also expect Bellotti to attack the body from the first bell and whenever possible, keep things tight, be patient, especially those first few rounds, then start to turn up the heat when Gill is holding his feet more or those early bodyshots have paid off. Both haven't fought for nearly a year, Bellotti fought a month after Gill did, if that benefits anybody I believe it benefits Bellotti, in my opinion Gills style requires his sharpness and timing to be on point, I think Coldwell has mentioned this before, he said Gill needs to be fighting regularly and you will see the best of him. Also, Gill might have a serious problem with bodyshots, I personally don't believe the story Gill or Coldwell tell about his defeat. Bellotti can punch and if Gill really does have a problem with bodyshots then Bellotti will expose it. I think that's how it ends, Bellotti scoring a TKO from body abuse.
I know you get your usual moaners and what not but I’m actually impressed by the set up. Eggington vs Cheeseman is also a decent Saturday fight night card and during a pandemic you can’t really complain. Looking forward to Belotti vs Gill too, I used to think Belotti was one of the best prospects in the country, he’s defo got talent I’m just not quite sure what happened when he stepped up. Gill sort of came out of nowhere, signed with Coldwell and matchroom, got a lot of hype over nothing and then got knocked down a few pegs. He seems to have been working hard though and looks in great shape.
I've re-watched a few of Eggington's fights recently, being the Malignagi, Gavin and the Mwakinyo ones and I just can't see him winning here, even if he manages to drag the big cheese into a shootout. Eggington seems to have a weird, perverse enjoyment to taking punishment and there's examples in all of those bouts where he just drops his hands after a combination and lets the other fella tee off on him. Against very light hitters in Gavin / Malignagi , it didn't really matter but against the tough African he came very unstuck. Same will happen against Cheeseman if he does it again. Not to forget, Cheeseman is the naturally bigger man having always campaigned at LMW. Should be a good bout whilst it lasts and it's certainly a good card - I'm looking forward to it.
Agreed. Personally, I see this as a comprehensive victory for Cheeseman. He’s superior in every department. I like Eggington, he’s massively fun to watch and has overachieved but he will get dealt with relatively easily here.
I’ve not seen much of this Fabio Wardley, is he much of a prospect, a possible future name on the heavyweight scene?
Bellotti is a double aba champion which is pretty rare in the amateurs. his work rate and body shots got him those titles. Just goes to show how good these pros actually are. I think the loss to Doyle was a wake up call, up until then he was walking through everyone. I also think the loss has made him a bit gun shy since then, losing both to Walsh and the Italian just not quite doing enough and not letting his hands go enough. I’m rooting for Bellotti to win this via stoppage as the loss gill had due to food poisoning stinks imo but he has his work cut out and gill got rid of Doyle in pretty good fashion.
