    Pacquiao-Thurman
    • Pacquiao was 40 years old
    • Pacquiao became the oldest welterweight champion in history
    • Pacquiao became the most times welterweight champion in history
    • Pacquiao gave up a significant size advantage to Thurman
    Additional Notes:

People love saying that Pacquiao beat an inactive Thurman. Let's take a look.

    Thurman fought Porter

days after he fought Lopez. It's a simple fact that Pacquiao fought the most active Thurman in years.

Thurman was badly hurt by Collazo right before he fought Porter. Thurman was badly hurt by Lopez. This is noteworthy because the criticism against the Pacquiao win was that Thurman was badly hurt by Lopez in his previous fight. This was another criticism.

    Clearly Mayweather’s win over Canelo.

    Pac-Thurman

Sure, Floyd beat Nelo much clearer but he beat a drained Canelo who wasn't half of the fighter he is now. And Pac broke the records in the OP in that fight, which is mental considering this is a guy who's prime was a decade ago, and who was fighting HOFers from the early 2000s and was a champion in the 90s. A 147lb version of Thurman in 2019 was clearly better than a 150lb version of Canelo 2013, and Pacquiao was much more shopworn than Floyd was.

Neither is a very impressive win
Canelo was green and weight drained

Thurman's body was broken and he is borderline shot, look at his performance in the fight before Manny

You mean when Thurman schooled Lopez and got caught in just the one round? Thurman won the fight by 10 or 11 rounds. And we know Lopez can crack (broke Victor's jaw).

I feel he still struggled way more than he should have, i gave Lopez 2 or 3 rounds but Thurman 3.5 years ago would have knocked him out in 8 rounds winning every round in a dominant fashion

Pacquiao over Thurman because there wasn't a catchweight. That's why Canelo is still considered undefeated while Thurman has a legitimate loss.

Also, Pac's wins over Bradley > Floyd's over Maidana

Sure I think the fact that Floyd beat the dominant 154 pounder at the time when he Floyd was past his best at age 36. It was not even a close fight though a blind judge scored it a draw. Floyd took Canelo to school which no one else has been able to do. Pacquiao’s win while excellent and commendable at the age of 40 , Keith Thurman was not viewed as the best Welterweight in the world and he had been relatively inactive due to his injuries. Also Canelo has ATG skills which Thurman does not have. Thurman just has a big mouth.

Thurman isn't half the fighter Canelo was at that point. Everyone's talking about Canelo being drained fails to mention he stated he would volunteer a catchweight because he was comfortable a few pounds under the limit. Everyone claiming he was green is ignoring the fact that he was an active world champion with over 40 fights. Thurman at the point PAC fought him hadn't fought in almost 2 years and hadn't looked like a championship level for even longer than that. Throw in the fact that canelo is now fighting at 175 there is zero argument

That's so obvious that it needn't ever be mentioned/compared. Like. Ever.

You have no idea how many times I've heard otherwise. I've also seen people say that Floyd's wins over Maidana would be Pac's best wins since Cotto, which I find ridiculous.
