This content is protected "Scorecard, Scorecard.... Scorecard." Isiah Thomas in-between rounds. Thomas was lucid and fine to continue he made the concious decision not to continue after feeling Gassievs power. Biased commentary as well especially from Tarver. Gassiev sure made him eat his words.
And the weird thing is that he usually ended up carried around the ring on the shoulders of one of his cornermen with his arms up and smiling as if he won. Khan against Crawford was pretty bad too.
I think what's worse about Freitas is that he was really, really talented and was an excellent fighter. He probably could've seen those fights out, and iirc I had him pretty comfortably ahead vs Corrales.
Yeah, what a bum. Should have stayed in a fight he had no hope of winning and gotten a traumatic brain injury with a side of Parkinson’s later in life. What a disgrace amiright? /sarcasm. The old notion of going out on your shield is just that, old. Boxing is a business now as people play king of the paycheck, not king of the mountain. These guys have to live without a retirement plan, medical etc etc so unless they’re making millions a fight they alone should make decisions. Boxing doesn’t need another Gerald McClellan.
He was out on his feet. He got the scorecard option given which is a legit move as the commission dude stated. Why wouldn't he take that option? Roberto Duran's quit against SRL was worse... Are you just mad this turned into a NC or what? It's not a bad quit job. He basically got hit with two KO punches at and after the bell. He could have EASILY gone down, the ropes held him up and he managed to get back to his corner. If he went down that could have been the NC there and then. The second punch was bs. If gassiev wasn't a bad sportsman he would have got the KO probably in the next round if he didn't land his illegal blow.
The rigo quit job was pathetic considering how much **** he talked in the lead up. It was very satisfying to watch.
