No. Bowe was a lazy flat footed slob against Golota and a drained husk in the rematch. He still made Golota quit twice when he showed flashes of his former self.

99 Lewis vs Holyfield would not look the same as 92 Holy vs 96 Lewis

88 Tyson blows Holyfield away because Holyfield got hot more against Holmes than 88 Tyson did.

Ok so you bring up a fighter who was a well known lard arse and lazy SOB as some sort of comparison to Tyson?

Tyson never let himself go physically at any point in his career, he always entered the ring in great shape.

Tyson was not out of shape, younger than Holyfield and had less miles on the clock.

Holyfield had looked poor for a few years prior to his bout with Tyson. The point is an out of prime Holyfield still handled Tyson with ease, a peak version would have done the same with any version of Tyson.

    What's your point ?
    Are you denying Holyfield was a war-torn, damaged, semi-washed-up has-been too ?
Holyfield had so many miles on the clock it was ridiculous.
There's a reason he was an overwhelming underdog and virtually no one picked him to beat Tyson by then.
When they'd been set to fight in 1991, the odds had been much closer and 'experts' were split about 50-50 on who they figured to win.
But in 1996, Tyson was a huge favourite and almost every single pundit figured Tyson. A good number thought Holyfield would get badly hurt.
    Why's that ?
The answer : because Holyfield had slipped even further from his prime form than Tyson had. Everyone could see it.

Because Tyson has just demolished Bruno and Holufield had just been demolished by Bowe.

Holyfield had way more prime left in him that Tyson did , as evidenced by his fights with Lewis 3 years later.

We can only go with facts and what happened, anything else is speculation.

The fact that Holyfield defeated Tyson twice is pretty damning.

It's blatantly obvious Holyfield was no-where near as declined as was thought. Tyson brought out a real resurgence in him. I think this version of Holyfield beats any version of Tyson. I'd favor him back around 90 too but i'd actually be more confident of the version that did actually beat Tyson. His gameplan was utterly foolproof and he was strong as a bull.

    Some game plan....

Clinch and clinch and clinch.....did some decent counter punching and a awful lot of head butts vs Tyson firing single loaded up shots with zero head movement with his feet stuck in cement........more clinching more head butting......

It was a event that Tyson sold on his old Glory plus the marketing genius of Don King......the fight was mediocre at best......the rematch was actually a better fight with much fluidity before the blatant head butts and ear bites.

Only total idiots claim that Holyfield c that he had Tysons number in the 80' or 90's........complete non sense, after Spinks Tyson changed as a fighter and even for the Ruddock matches he got hit way to much because his trade mark defense and become a straight out I hit you you hit me slugger...............up to Douglas you can count on ONE hand how many times Tyson was really hit....Tucker/Bonecrusher and Bruno landed a good shot and that was it, period.

Holyfield aka Evan Fields is the most blatant PED abuser in modern day Heavyweight history.......Holyfieled without Roids is the guy who fought Quawy , fact..............and that version will get stopped by a prime Tyson or any other roided up Holyfield after.

The intellectual dishonesty is mind boggling, stick a fighter already going off the rails in the joint for four years, have him fight some set ups when out and expect him to be the same before he went in......Tyson was a show but not a fighter after prison.

The same idiots must claim that Ali was better after the forced lay off or that Foreman was "better" when he was fat on the come back trail.....negative, a fine tuned fighting machine does not get better rotting in jail and those two guys never went into the can, they simply declined while sitting it out.

Holyfield was treated by most coming in as a lamb to slaughter .. Tyson was not the Tyson go 87 but was still a very skilled, well conditioned kilklker coming off two big and decisive wins ... it was an exceptionally dramatic fight ..

Then I'm a happy idiot. Prime Holy beats Mike whenever. Same with prime Louis, Ali, Holmes, Foreman, Steward-era Lewis, and more than possibly Marciano, 1991 Bowe, and FOTC Frazier. Liston I'm not decided on yet.

That said, I'm a definite fan of Mike right up to and including the Spinks fight, and I admire the heart he showed against Ruddock, Douglas, and Lewis.

BTW, even if Holy did use PEDs, how does that stack up morally to a convicted ******? Just askin'.

    What crack are you smoking?

Tyson didn't rot anywhere, in fact he came out of prison leaner and in better shape than when he was sent down.

Basically Tyson was in a holiday camp and locked away in a place where training is life.

He would have had access to all the best vitamins & minerals, he was basically living like a pampered king in exile.

Meanwhile Holyfield was deteriorating after all those years of hard fought battles.

His actual life years at that point estimate to be at double Tyson's.

It's like comparing a Pitbull that has fought in the box all it's life compared to a pampered pet.

The fact that Holyfield could overcome these obstacles is a testament to the superior fighter he was compared to Tyson.

Thats what i am saying, a younger Holyfield who was less muscle bound would have perhaps not had the strength to implement the game plan he did in the 1996 encounter. Yes he might have Tyson back with every punch in the book but would they have the same effect when he was lighter, he would be taking punches back too and keep in mind he was not as muscular, strong as he was in 1996 when he was faster

One thing to concede is that Holyfield had studied Tyson's style and mentality to the tilt. He exposed the weaknesses of the pee ka boo style and the fact that Tyson had problems, issues with an ironed chinned fighter who was constantly pushing him back. Holyfield correctly knew that Tyson was a full on confidence fighter, the moment he knew he could actually hurt you, his mentality in the fight changed drastically. Once he realized that he was not going to be able to hurt you at all, he became badly discouraged and went into a shell
