Can just as easily point out several kickboxing guys who were successful in boxing. Klitschko, Povetkin, Huck, Algeiri, Whyte. Just to name a few.

Matt Skelton did pretty good for himself considering a late switch to boxing. And honestly he wasn't as good of a K-1 fighter as Sefo.

I know some boxing purists feel the need to put down other combat sports and put boxing on a pedestal but it's really played out at this point.

I like MMA/kickboxing. I'd even be rooting for Ngannou. I don't like WIlder.

All those guys you mentioned started pro boxing much earlier than Ngannou would now. They developed as good boxers.

Maybe Sefo wasn't the best example cause he also started boxing pro young. Guess he just sucked at it.

My point was the switching of combat sports like that at an old age is probably a bad idea.

Ngannou would not have time. He's in his thirties. His technique is pretty bad. He thinks his boxing is good, but that's in MMA where, he'll be in for a rude awakening in boxing.

People need to stop thinking that Floyd carried Conor.

    1) MMA's bring a different type of intensity, rhythm and techniques than Boxers are used to seeing.

    2) This isn't 1996. MMA guys have very respectable hands and power now.

I think people still assume it's wrestler and grapplers running the show like they did in the 90's. MMA fighters have improved ten-fold at Boxing.

Certain guys had big power and one great punch (BJ Penn) or no hands at all (Tito) or just sheer, brute power (Igor Vov). It's not like that now.

Conor handled Paulie in sparring. Yes, Paulie is past it, feather-fisted and a bit fat, but he's an ex-world champion & operator that was at the top level only a few years ago.

What doesn't help is that the so called GOAT is a defensive-first fighter. So there was never gonna be a Round 1 demolition job ala Tyson. That was the so-called best struggling with a cage fighter. Floyd was also done by then, so he looks worse because Conor was in his prime.

Would I fancy Stipe over Fury in a Boxing match? No chance. But Stipe is still a GG champ, has good hands, and no doubt spars top boxers and holds his own.

Floyd let the bigger man, who is at his best when countering, come to him. Genius gameplan, in all fairness. But Floyd never carried him. And Floyd wouldn't last a round in a cage with Conor.

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but MMA guys can actually Box a little bit, are great athletes and are well rounded fighters...
