He saved Norton from going down! He could saved Foster and Shavers and Quarry would lose and you could say they were just saved but would always beat Quarry! If Norton wasn't saved, Quarry wozld finished him ala Shavers but ref saved Norton which is maybe fix! Again that is cocaine addict Quarry with broken hand who was washed!
I was going to make this is separate thread but figured why not put it here .. who do you think was the better fighter between Quarry and Bonavena ? I ask because obviously Oscar gave Ali and Frazier tougher bouts .. he beat Chuvalo who Quarry lost to in that bizarre manner .. they both lost to Ellis .. they both fought very close fights w Patterson ... curious on your take ..
I think Bonavena was very unfortunate to fight in the same era as Ali and Frazier and share his prime with them. Id probably rate him a bit higher than Quarry but Ive always thought a fight between the two would be a pick em. I could see it playing out a number of ways.
EZ WIN FOR QUARRY TEN COUNT KNOCKOUT, MAYBE SAME HAPPEND TO MIKE (LEFT HOOK), WATCH SUPERSTARS, FOSTER WANTED NO PART OF JERRY EVER. CUTS MAY ASS, ONLY 3 HW HALL OF FAMERS DID THAT TO QUARRY ONE WAY PAST HIS PRIME. JERRY WOULD WALK THRU BOB FOSTER COME ON!
EZ WIN FOR QUARRY WILLIAM, FOSTER 0-8 VS HEAVYWEIGHTS, BUT HE'LL BEAT HW #27 OF ALLTIME QUARRY? IT WON'T GO 2 ROUNDS, AND FOSTER KNEW IT
I have changed my mind since then. Dumb thing to say. Foster was 8-0, but two of them-Mina and Wassaja were light heavies.
We are not talking abiht today but about acutal matchup from that time! Jones is bigger also than Foster!
Jones had fought most of his career at, below, or just above 175 prior to Foster. Only five months earlier he had fought Harold Johnson for the vacant LHW title weighing 171. He turned pro as a middleweight four years prior to facing Foster. He was shorter and had a shorter reach than Foster and while he weighed more when they actually fought I would hardly call him the bigger man. Jones was a natural LHW who fought at HW because thats where the money was.
