The quickest boxer to become World champion. He still holds this record til this day to be the fastest. Vasyl has tried it but Muangsurin did it in less days after turning pro. Could this feat ever be repeated?

“World champion” is so devalued I don’t think it will be long until someone wins a set up title in his debut. The WBA will soon have 4 titles per division as an options and the WBC are pretty ridiculous.

Another one we’ll see soon too is the oldest “world champ record” shattered. I see the WBC getting in on one of these Tyson-Jones type “fights” and announcing it as a “world title fight”. It’s why I am starting to only recognize lineal, beat the previous #1 and unified minimum of three belts as a champ since even undisputed is impossible because you’ve got guys like Teo Lopez who yap off but never actually intend to fight the top dog.

Neither was lineal. Neither was a "real" champion by my eyes - just a belt holder.

Anyone know who the fastest fighter to a legit world championship was?

Just checked. Leon in his 9th, Sot in his 8th.

Everybody wants to act like everything was invented yesterday.

Floyd Patterson defended the heavyweight championship — the ONE heavyweight title that was recognized — against debuting Pete Rademacher ... and not knocked down. That’s how close it came to happening, and not because of the proliferation of title belts.

George Foreman said in his book, “Boxing has always had an element of ‘come see the bearded lady,’” — a circus element — and that will always be true. It’s not regulated like a professional league. We’ve had Butterbeans and “YouTube sensations” in sanctioned boxing matches and it’s all OK, because there’s a sucker born every minute.

You don`t think it`s difficult to win a world title in your second pro fight, are you mad?

Jones Jr couldn`t have won the middleweight title in his second fight because the champs were too good at that point in `89, Duran had just vacated the WBC, Nunn was the IBF champ and beat the WBA champ Kalambay and Jones couldn`t have beaten either man in `89, Benn became the WBO champ in 1990 maybe you feel Jones couldhave beaten him in `89, Jones was a light middle in 1989 and Julian Jackson was the WBA 154 champ in `89 he knocked out an amazing fighter like Norris that year so would have destroyed the green Jones at that point.
