After watching his fight against Groves, I don't really regard Eubank Jr as a boxer. He's an incredible physical specimen, a great athlete with a lot of heart too. But I don't consider him to be an actual boxer, so seeing him touted for lists like this is somewhat discombobulating.
Eubank doesn`t know how to set up his shots with his lead hand, AJ has never looked as bad as Eubank looked v Groves, the idiot didn`t even have a trainer, he was delusional, AJ is an olympic gold medalist.
This Billy Joe Saunders fella has weaved a spell on us all, his last meaningful win was almost 5 years ago. Let go! I don't want to hear about Lemieux. These P4P lists are demonstrating how shallow our British talent pool is. Tyson Fury and Liam Williams should not be only 8 names apart.
I'm not a troll, I happen to British myself. Boxing as a whole isn't exactly going through its best years I'm just pointing out that at the moment there's not much point having a top ten British P4P if we're scratching our heads after #5.
Just weighing in on the Eubank debate. I’ve posted here a few times showing my support for him. I remember a thread a while back about the most underrated British boxers and I said CEJ. Underrated in the context of his perceived ability on this board, as I’ve noticed the majority don’t rate him here. So in a way I’m balancing things as I do rate him fairly high these days. A few years back when he won the IBO and was flashing it like he was a legit champ, I thought he was smug, didn’t like him so much, and remember laughing when Bellew dissed him and said he seen better belts in Matalan. Boxing is funny how opinions change over time. Not a fan of Bellew now even though I supported him vs Haye, but I prefer Haye now he seems cool since retirement. I think Eubank has a good heart he’s just not got that natural charisma, he’s polarising but guarantees good fights due to his workrate and athleticism. He doesn’t have to be an elite boxer to make a UK p4p list, he can win ugly against a slickster and that’s all that matters.
Chris Eubank Jr is not a boxer so cannot be considered for UK P4P lists. He's a fit and determined young man who tries to hit people in the head if they're put in a boxing ring with him.
Boxer and fighter are interchangeable in terms of p4p ranking. Someone like Pauli would favour the slick boxer over a fighter as that was his style. Eubank battered Degale all over the ring it wasn’t even close yet it was expected to be a 50/50 fight beforehand. All well and good saying he’s shot afterward but the lad can only beat what’s in front of him.
