I had an arguement with a forum user over a thread I started about Tyson beating a 23 year a a teen in the amateurs, this guy stated Foreman was better at that age and was a better amateyr because he won gold, but I feel Biggs who beat Tyson in the qualifyers was better than Foreman`s opponent in the olympics, but was he better than Foreman from `68, final for final?

Biggs was a Super Heavyweight in the Olympics. Tyson was campaigning as a Heavyweight and lost two fights against Henry Tillman. Tillman and Biggs both won Gold in 1984. Biggs did not take Tyson’s spot nor did he face him as an amateur. Tillman beat Tyson to earn his spot as the Heavyweight representative for the United States. Biggs was the representative in the super heavyweight division for the United States

Nope he wasn't!Foreman won Olympics in just one years while Biggs needed much longer!
Foreman at that time alao spared with Liston and used to hold 300lb cows!
Foreman was bigger and stronger also better than Biggs!

A lot of people think that Biggs didn't deserved the gold on a watered down tournament without the Cubans and the Russians while Foreman won his gold with 3 knockouts in 4 fights and he started boxing the previous year. Biggs probably beats Foreman in a three round amateur fight but it's a fact that George performed better in a tournament with better opposition.

Also, Biggs never beat Tyson. Apparently Cus wanted Mike to fight at super heavy because he had the speed advantage but the USA Boxing officials didn't wanted that and he ended up losing twice against Henry Tillman on the division below. Neither Tillman or Biggs looked impressive during the 84' games, actually, Breland, Biggs, Tate, Tillman, McCrory, Page and Hill were involved in lackluster and sometimes controversial performances while Whitaker, Gonzales, Holyfield and Taylor looked better.

George could certainly punch harder than Biggs by then and Biggs knew nother about the technique and mechanics of punching hard even as a pro.

George Foreman won a Gold Medal as a heavyweight in the 1968 Mexico City Olympic games, he had tougher competition, his opponents were far more experienced. Tyrell Biggs won in 1984, but he never became a champion as a professional like George did. George smothered his adversaries with his crunching power punches, like being in the middle of a tornado. George knocked down champion Smoking Joe Frazier 6 times, enroute to a TKO 2, on January 22 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica, to win the undisputed World Heavyweight Title. Biggs climb was mediocre compared to Foreman's, and that's what counts.

    Foreman was better.
Foreman beat the best amateurs in the world at the Olympics in 1968, top experienced heavyweights from the East Bloc.

Biggs won gold at the L.A. Olympics when the Cubans and Soviets boycotted. His final bout with Damiani was a disputed decision.

Foreman’s am career starts and stops with the Olympics.

Biggs had a better am career than Foreman before he even fought in the Olympics, and it’s littered with Cubans as well as a couple other wins over Damiani.

You’re missing the point like a bald headed cactus here.
