I feel Conor won the first three rounds until Floyd stated to use the bull guard and bully his way forwards in the fourth, but a lot of boxing fans on Quora say Conor didn`t any rounds aside from the early rounds that Floyd 'let' Conor win before stepping up the pace with his high guard. Did Conor really win any rounds v Floyd or not?

At most he won 4 rounds,(1,2,3,8) and at worst he only won the 1st round.

At the time I was excited for this fight. Recently I watched it again. It was a dirty, sloppy, lousy fight.

He won as many rounds as all of us would IF Floyd let us win them. If you can't see that Floyd CARRIED him through that fight then I am lost for words.

He won the first two rounds only because Floyd let him.but it was such a farce mayweather could do whatever he wanted with McGregor.

I think he took the first four. He made Floyd look so bad that there's a narrative being peddled that Floyd, he of the super-size-that-ego option LET Conor beat him up. People that believe that twaddle need to check their tinfoil hats.

I think Conor began to gas at the end of the third and in the fourth Floyd started having more success by bull rushing him using a high guard, Conor admitted he didn`t know how to pierce the high guard and struggled with the high guard in his rematch v Diaz too but overcame this problem by kicking Nate`s lead leg as he came forwards.

Conor thought he could blow Floyd out and blew himself out instead. His stamina was not up to scratch; if it had been he'd have done what he set out to do. He had no problems with Floyd until his tank emptied. Frankly I thought Floyd would have done much better and maybe he had not taken Conor as seriously as he should have.

Conor is known to have stamina problems in UFC fights too, every move he makes is explosive and dramatic.

no, floyd has never been a ko artist, he punches soft and conor has a decent chin. It was floyd strategy to let conor tire himself in the early rounds. FLoyd isnt going to exchange when conor is fresh. I dont care if a guy does mma or not. FLoyd would have stalled with the average joe schmo on the street if they had a half decent chin.

He didn’t need to take him seriously, Floyd barely trained and did exactly what he wanted in that fight. High guard and just sit back and let mctapper blow himself out, right from the start Floyd made no attempt to hold the centre of the ring and barely threw any punches, compare that to the start of the Canelo fight when he was fighting someone who was actually a threat.

There was 0% chance of anything other than a Floyd win unless there was a freak injury.

Floyd was just very cautious as usual and thought the best strategy was to wait for Conor to tire. I don't think he carried him. He simply didn't do anything cause Conor was kind of awkward and he was old and he never takes any risks.

Saying he let Conor hang around to "carry him" and make the fight better is pure fantasy. It was just good ol Floyd taking 0 risks. He will only step slightly outside his comfort zone if he's twice his opponent's size and his opponent isn't a boxer. Like against that Japanese fighter. And I'm not convinced that wasn't fixed.

The problem with this theory is it makes little to no sense. Floyd very rarely gave away rounds against anyone, but decided to do it against a novice? Why? The money was already there by the time they walked to the ring. If it was to set up a rematch, well he NEVER even remotely hinted at another boxing match (and we all know he never had any intention of getting into the octagon).

If he was feeling out McGregor and lost a few rounds in the process, he still lost them. I don’t buy that he purposely gave him a few rounds in any way. There was ZERO reason to make this look more competitive than he had to.

I think he legit lost a couple rounds to a guy who never fought professionally before. Granted, he isn’t your average amateur, but still kind of odd that Floyd needed quite a few rounds to impose his superiority.

Conor stood off and let Floyd lead which he isn`t very good at, Floyd simply eventually adapted to Conor`s style and then Conor didn`t know how to adapt to Floyd`s changed tactics, simple as that.

Floyd landed good shots on Conor and his body shots were killing Conor which causes a fighter to gas, MMA fights don`t last as long as boxing matches and therre`s not the same volume of punching, there`s a lot of standing off seing what`s going on, yet Conor is known for gassing early in MMA fights he has never knocked any MMA fighter out after the second round.
