Everyone knows that Holyfield was pretty old and dry by the time Toney got to him in 2003. How would the Toney who fought at CW around 1997-2003 do against the young, prime Holyfield who dominated the CW division? Does Toney still edge Holyfield due to styles or would a younger Holyfield outhustle and outmuscle Toney? Toney seemed really comfortable at CW and has put on some great performances at the weight, so a fight against a prime Holyfield would have been very interesting.
I'll take Holyfield to outmaneuver and outpunch Toney in an entertaining fight.

Holyfield probably outworks him but I'm not 100% on it. Toney has the skill advantage for sure and he'd make Holyfield miss plenty and land plenty on him

Might be the best fight in the history of the sport. I think I'd lean towards holyfield on a close points win

If this is 15 rounds Holy takes a 9-6 UD, He'd have Toney on the defensive most of the fight

    Bump
The Holyfield that fought Dwight Muhammad Qawi 1 against James Toney who fought Vasiliy Jirov would surely have been an epic slugfest.

I agree and i suspect that this was not only a case of "younger guy beats the old guy" , stylistically i think that toney ALWAYS would trouble evander

Undecided. Evander at cruiserweight was a force. But James was much more experienced than a 16-0 Evander. And holy’s chance of a KO is practically zero

Interesting.I think that Holyfield’s combinations would earn him a competitive decision
