Look at the way he countered Hagler in their bout, Roy would never have done that, he`d be too defensive v Marvin, specifically in only his second pro bout.

I can't see iron-chinned DeWitt being iced early by a kid. Neither Tommy Hearns or Don Lee could put a dent in the guy.

The drawn-out beating he took from bombastic Nigel Benn was the most horrific thing Bob Arum ever saw. DeWitt can't even string a sentence together today apparently.

I'm saying that Mugabi built up a record by knocking out low level fighters before he fought Hagler.

There's no doubting that he was a capable fighter, but he never had a top level win in his entire career.

Yes, a fight with Roy would have played out completely different.

Roy wouldn't have fought him, he'd have boxed him.

    You always do this.

It doesn't matter if Mugabi would have knocked out Roy's opponents faster than what Roy did.

They would all have matched up differently.

Maybe Mugabi could have knocked out all of Roy's first 20 opponents in a round. It means nothing.

Mugabi hasn't done anything to convince me he'd have knocked out Roy.

Sure, Roy wasn't seasoned at that stage. But he still had incredible hand speed and a highly unorthodox style.

If Mugabi was good enough to have knocked Roy out, he'd have had a better career. And he'd have fared better against the top level guys he fought like Norris and Gerald etc.

He doesn't look awesome in that video.

The way he put punches together was far better than anybody Roy beat during his career?

    Ha!

What on earth are you talking about Mark?

The way you think and the logic that you use is truly baffling to me.

You think that Mugabi would have beaten Roy at JMW/MW, on the grounds that he threw more punches than 2 LHW's who beat Roy?

    It's ridiculous.

You don't think he could have beaten that Duran? Let's just say I disagree.

Ultimately, if these guys were ready for title fights as soon as they turned pro they would have moved quicker imo.

Loma came reckoning he was was ready and came unstuck against Salido.

Had Loma not fought Salido, completely missed that fight out, say Salido turns down the offer, and people saw how Salido went and how Loma went afterwards, no sane person would have predicted that Salido would have won the fight.

    No one.

It's not a straight forward task using hindsight to predict how a fight would have gone.

Roy's father took Roy away from the spotlight, wisely. He was too young to handle it. Physically he was good enough, but literally too young and mentally not exposed to much beyond the farm.

When we look at fighters who were moved too quickly, we wouldn't have predicted those losses is my point.

He's no Roy Jones. He's how old? Where are the six hooks in one second?
