Am I the only one that thinks this fight may be a bit more competitive than expected? Joshua will likely be looking past Pulev, like most fans are, and Pulev will probably be training the hardest he's trained since his fight with Wlad.
At worst maybe Joshua has a few problems with his jab like Wlad did, but once Joshua decides to unload I don't see him having any difficulty dispatching Pulev.
Possible, but I don't see Pulev being motivated. I think his ambitions died a while ago, and now he only cares about the paycheck.
It's possible, unlikely but possible. But AJ has glass temples, one crack around the temple area and we could see glass shatter all over Adam Smith ringside. But I expect AJ to box behind a jab for the first few rounds, his new "careful" style and once he feels good and the jab has done enough damage then turn up the heat and stop Pulev.
Pulev still has the jab , its an awkward jab he uses defensively and offensively. Its going to be tough for Joshua to deal with. Interesting fight. Pulev has only one loss to Klitschko.
Watch Hughie Vs Pulev and Wlad vs Pulev AJ should knock this chump out with the first right hand he lands
Joshua probably thinks he can do same as Wlad did but he's not near as skilled as that Wlad. An aged Wlad almost dispatched Joshua like he did Pulev, if that had happened nobody would be calling this a potential walkover. That's not omitting that Joshua has been wiped out in a fight vs a fat stand in since.
Joshua has size, reach, age and skill going for him. Pulev will only be useful for joshua to shake the ring rust off, this fight wont reach the second half.
You never know... If Pulev goes for it like he did against Wlad he just might catch AJ and score a huge upset. Or...... End up on the receiving end of a KO. Alternatively it could get interesting if he's still hanging around late when Joshua sometimes starts to fade. If he put his foot on the gas a stoppage isn't out of the question. I think the most likely scenerio is a Joshua stoppage inside 7 but crazier upsets have happened at HW.
Pulev like anyone that fights joshua needs to try to take him out. Its pretty much that simple. The blueprints there. If he tries to win by jabbing he,ll end up getting caught and knocked out eventually without too many problems. I still reckon you dont need to be a massive puncher to take joshua out. But boxing with hims probably not the best way to go about it....because he will catch you at one point. Him stalking you.while your jabbing and moving is probably the last thing you want cause one mistake...he,s well capable of taking you out. You really need to try to push him onto the back foot. Hes not great on the back foot. Ruiz done that by putting his punches together and going forward.
People forget it was a good loss, too. It only went four and some change, but Puelv stunned Wladdy with the opening punch, and, I think, one other time. Pulev is an enigma. He lacks a true power punch, but man, that jab is heavy. All said and done, I think Joshua got this, though. But it is by no means out of the realm of possibility that this is a real fight. He is a big boy, has a great jab, and has shown a good chin against anyone not named Klitschko. Guys have done well with less.
Guys like Pulev, Charr, and even sadly, my man Povetkin, have no business being at the top of a division at their age. AJ isn't as good as his record suggests, but he will be more than capable of sweeping ancient Pulev off to the old age home.
When asked about the matchup a while ago, Wlad mentioned skill with Pulev and strength/power with AJ, suggesting he considered Pulev more skilled. Even though he destroyed Pulev, he must have seen something in there to make him say that. Wlad did most of the damage to Pulev with leaping left hooks, about three of them dropped him. Pulev might have learned from that, who knows. AJ's hook isn't quite the same either. Pulev took some monster RH's from Wlad, he's not just going to fall over if AJ connects. What happens if AJ starts to gas and Pulev is still there in annoying fashion, jabbing and landing weird RH's ... fight could shift in Pulev's favour down the stretch.
I think it will be tough for Joshua if he comes in heavy again. He isn't quite as good as Wlad on the outside. Maybe better on the inside, but vulnerable to getting caught. If he balloons back up to 245 plus, then he hasn't learned anything from the Ruiz fight. This is boxing not bodybuilding. He's quicker when he's lighter.
