It puts him a position to force a mandatory shot against the full belt holder so I see why he thinks this is a good route as he can show up as fat as he wants and still beat Charr. This will be a crap fight though and I have no faith in Fat Andy to ever dedicate himself to the sport long enough to give another legit champ a real run for their money.
If this ever does happen, they'd be marketing Andy Ruiz as a "two-time world heavyweight champion" after his victory. The "regular" belt is far from a legitimate world title. There's a reason why it is not required to be undisputed, and it would also infer that all other governing bodies' second string belts are also legitimate world titles. Boxing governance is shambolic.
This fight will not happen in a million years. Charr is retired and with Oquendo's long running court case nearly coming to an end, the WBA wouldn't dare do anything else to upset him. If it goes as well as he has told me, he might just well be in a position to bankrupt thr company once and for all.
