Let’s say he decides to transition to real fights and looks good and picks up a belt then calls it a day. Where would you rank him in the top 10 heavyweights? He would then be the youngest and oldest heavyweight champion.

I know he’s 54 and it’s not a plausible scenario but what if?

Easily. He also last held a world title in 1996 so it would be a 24 year gap between hold the belts.

But back on Planet Reality, he has been shot since 2002 and is not even 30% of what he used to be.

We dont even know if he is sparring.

Yeah, depending on who he beat.

If he beats Joshua or Fury, then he is somewhere in the top three with Ali and Louis.

If he beats a scrub who has a split-off belt because Joshua or Fury couldn't make a mandatory, then it bumps him a spot or two from wherever he is. He basically beat in his old age what would be a decent contender in another era.

But, as you said, I don't see it at all. He can probably use PEDS, gene therapy, etc. to restore a lot, but the damage done to his heart and lungs from coke and weed isn't going to be fixed.

I actually agree with the hypothetical assessment, good show!
I do not know if he has long term damage from drugs. Very possibly, but some can say smoke for many decades & are lucky, some can clean up well.
I do not know the current state of gene therapy but am open to hear about it.
I do not know if he ever used any PEDs, but yeah these cheaty things could help-to a point.

This. At this point Charr probably > Tyson by some way, and that's a sad thing to say.

What if Roy Jones wins, comes back and then knocks out Canelo and Beterbiev at 175? It's about as realistic. People have forgotten that Tyson was totally washed up 15 years ago and has been on a diet of hard drugs and weed ever since. I know he's still a lot of people's hero from when they were younger but we need to start discussing what this fight actually means.

He'd be ranked #3. But Mike Tyson isn't going to fight real fights because he'd never pass a PED test. He's on the program all those stars do when they make super hero movies to get jacked up. He's so loaded up on HGH right now it's crazy.

Enjoy the fun around Tyson right now. It's nice to see him fit and in a good head space. I'll always contend that Muhammad Ali being a dottering, emotionless shell unable to speak for 40 years did monumental damage to the sport, in the United States in particular.

It's nice to have former great world champs alive, healthy, able to speak and still making headlines because of how good they look. That's not always the case.

Lewis, Tyson, Mayweather, Larry Holmes, George Foreman, Leonard, Hopkins, Oscar, both Klitschkos, even Holyfield, they are all good to have around. But they don't need to be fighting.

We don't need any more blind, brain damaged, wheelchair-bound "greats" in their 40s and 50s.

LOL at not be able to pass a PED test. Top level athletes are passing PED tests on a consistent basis and very rarely fail. You'd have to be utterly clueless to think that the current top heavyweights are not currently on the hot sauce and likewise, to believe Mike Tyson wasn't throughout his career.

You'd have to be incredibly lax to fail a PED test, or to be in a certain place when you know you're glowing and are going to be tested. And if all else fails you have brown paper envelopes, if you're in a high enough place. There's also the small fact that anti-doping agencies will often deliberately not test when they know they may obtain a positive. Remember, these agencies make a lot of money from 'charitable donations', and how do you keep receiving those donations?

On top of that, there's so many undetectable substances and so many drugs with a half life of under 8 hours (and anti-doping bodies can only randomly test between midnight and 8am, mostly and sometimes 9am).

LOL. None of the celebrities training for those super hero movies have to pass a PED test. They train and take what the trainers at the studios provide to build muscle and get shredded. That's all Tyson is doing.

People think he's going to come back and have a "real" fight. He never is. I was just pointing out that he also wouldn't because he'd never pass a PED test.

What you're looking at with Tyson is a former athlete who has been both grossly overweight and rail thin in recent decades now just training (and taking PEDs) like other millionaire celebrities do.

That comedian from India on Silicon Valley recently went thru the celebrity training regimen and posted his photos. I doubt he'd pass a PED test, either. (LOL) But nobody is testing them.

My point is just that Tyson looks and feels healthy. Whatever he is taking is helping him. He's not fighting, so it doesn't matter.

    Definitely at #2 behind Fury.
