Lloyd Honeyghan suddenly became totally shot in 1989...he took horrific beatings vs Starling and Breland...even against journeyman novice delfino marin his punch power and reflexes seemed gone and he struggled to a points win........after the Breland massacre most fighters in his position would have called it a day..lloyd continued by discarding the remorseless reckless slugging he had adopted in his title defences ....and reverted to a safety first fancy dan boxing style devoid of the speed and confidence of his youth..but in the lower levels he operated in he seemed a master boxer again....he adapted to beat darryl anthony and score a 1 punch stoppage of mickey hughes for the respected Commonwealth title...he went 11-2 over five years even tho his legs resembled a guy on roller skates all that time and his knuckles barely held up.he should"ve beaten Adrian Dodson in his last fight but got caught hands down playing the fancy dan act he had perfected during the previous 5 years at domestic level

 

Hardly ever beaten ,because he hardly ever fights!

Zaragoza, Cervantes, Griffith, Tiger, Zapata, Wilfredo Vasquez, Oguma, Betulio Gonzalez, Napoles, Loi all did work ranging from solid to outstanding when their apexs were behind them.

 

Yes, his technique and experience finally caught up to his awesome physical skills. Even though he was past prime he was a much more well rounded and complete fighter than in his seek and destroy period earlier in his career. Emmanuel Steward spent hours with him on his footwork, balance, defense and punching technique and it paid big dividends when he entered the second phase of his career after he regained the title.

 

Zaragoza is a good shout.

 

He also struggled against Jorge Vaca in 1987.
