I dunno, I see a lot of bitching and whining and yet, what I saw was Whyte was prepared to do whatever it took to get the win, whereas Parker just hasn't quite got the same dog in him. Whyte bullied and rag dolled, elbowed, clinched and head butted because he was finding it hard in there. It's not the Queensbury rules but, it is a full blooded desire to win. Andre Ward practically made it an art form and he's consensus number 1/2 best SMW of all time. If you get away with it, it's fair game in my opinion as its no tickling contest, it's a FIGHT! If there had been a stronger ref in there, Whyte would have adjusted. That may have led to Parker being victorious or, it may have led to Whyte doing a Chisora 2 on Parker with a come from behind counter left hook. Ultimately, we'll never know and all that counts is the result...... THE END!
I see Parker getting up straight away from the left hook knockdown, it's hard to see how "Whyte wanted it more".
They both fought hard for the win. A draw would have been fair. If the first knockdown had been handled correctly, Parker probably deserves to win. If you listen to SKY's commentary Whyte won about 10 rounds though. ..... and deserves extra points for fouls.
Lots of fouling in that one I feel Parker will come back to be a huge champ over the next few years. He is young and still hungry
Sky Commentary on Friday - the Fowler fight on reached new levels of dross where Fowler has battered no hoper Pudding Harper every second of every round then midway through round 5 Macklin comes up with - 'He is beginning to get on top' Adam Smith then chips in with 'we should take our hats off to Eh Day' when he really meant ' Matt we should both take off our pants for Eh Day' The build up of no hoper puddings pre fight is also sensational when some have zero chance of winning - the classic is 'he has been around a while' and 'comes with ambition'. Bit like describing Robbie Savage at the same level as Messi.
"Can Scott Cardle finally realise his potential", I'm not sure if he has even ever said that but it regularly comes into my head as I'm making breakfast and shouting "Lions" at the cat most mornings.
I’ve not watched it since the night but my overwhelming memory is that Parker could’ve won if he’d of had some bollocks about him and really wanted to be a fighter.
Three of the best scorers on the site, myself included, had it Parker via UD. With damn near identical scorecards.
CST-80 - interesting comment. Fact is - Parker was literally concussed for half the fight after the headbutt that knocked him to the ground.
