    Actually it was #1 Ray Robinson and then the rest...


    There was no need for filler in the 70s and 80s. Pound for pound came into prominence in the Internet era, when quantity is needed.

    Nice. He’s one of the most impressive boxers in history. I like him more whenever I revisit him. Used to be a little bit of critic, but I’ve become a fan over time. If anything, his deficiencies (that I’ve thought would limit his head to head potential against other great flyweights) as a physical specimen make his championship reign all the more impressive. If he’d ruled over a weak class, like that other feather fisted midget Ivan Calderon, he’d be deserving of that speculation.

    He didn’t. He ruled throughout essentially the entire 70s decade, which was as good for Fly as it was for most other weight classes. Great times to be a boxing fan, I’m sure.

    No height, no reach, no power, no right hand. Just as refined in classical boxing skills as any other champion.
