Hey I put this video together because I've been thinking a lot lately about how worked up I used to get over this sport in terms of the guys I rooted for and the guys I hated.

I thought it would interesting, as an American and a former Hatton-hater, to look back at his career. I hope people enjoy it:

Just out of interest, why did you dislike him?

Crazy to think what could have happened if he’d lived the life outside of the ring.

Never been a fan of Hatton, I didn't really dislike or hate him but I never really got behind him or supported him.

I didn't like that cringy "I'm drinking day and night because I'm one of the people" crap.

I personally thought it sent out a terrible message, but Media and promoters loved it, peeing your life away in a pub isn't clever and he paid for it later.

And him saying "lickle" every time he was meant to say "little"... it really wasn't cute, it just sounded like he was mentally challenged.

As a fighter, he was good, not great, he lost to Mayweather by stoppage and Mayweather was hardly stopping anybody.

Pacquaio destroyed him, absolutely slept him, wasnt remotely competitive, cruelly exposed.

Hatton lost to Collazo in my opinion, was outboxed for large parts of that.

Senchenko ended his career with a bodyshot. Oh and he should have lost to Jon Thaxton back in the day.

A few solid wins but when he stepped up to the big boys he really struggled, good fighter, awful role model.

I never particular warmed to him either.

Thanks for reminding me of ‘ickle’ that definitely would’ve played a small part in my feelings towards him!

I quite liked him, he definitely played on the "just one of the boys" type persona, but he was still pretty funny. I always find myself rooting for the 'tough' rugged fighters who have to work hard to get their wins more than the naturally gifted slick fighters, not that I don't respect and enjoy watching those kind of fighters.

He was never as good as Floyd or even in the same class IMO, but he gave a good account for himself when they fought.

Ungracious in defeat but he was good fun while he lasted. Ricky went of his comfort zone to face the best and that has to be respected.

Agree with you on the collazo fight... I definitely thought he lost, but the thaxton fight... I don't remember being close

I liked Ricky... Bit ugly to watch.... Made the best out of what he had.. And has a great win albeit against an aging kostya tszyu.... He's a local lad as well and I didn't mind the pissed up all the time thing cos that's what alot of working class people in the area are like so I can see why it attracted a following of people who loved him.

Not the greatest, but only lost to the best in his era... Can't be too harsh

He has a far better CV then Tony Dosh PPV and chased fights with 2 all time greats in their prime.

No shame with those 2 losses and he gave us some cracking nights.

Should've lost to Jon Thaxton? He completely dominated Jon with skill and technique. That Hatton was looking like a potential world-beater, but he (and Frank) pissed it away.

Hatton was very lucky to have been not stopped on a cut in my opinion.
